Today I'd like to share the first page from the contents of a mysterious package we received today at the EGVAGaming HQ.  A strange looking envelope, weathered by the elements and covered in mysterious prints of dried up mud.  We opened the package to find a tattered pile of paper with writings, drawings, and strange notations.  Not addressed to anyone in particular and with no return address or authors names.  At the bottom of each piece or parchment, and to our best assumption, were scribbled two words...  Ark Survivor

I'd like to call to your attention a new series of first person events and accounts of game play, which will be published on EVGAGaming.com for the next few weeks based on the popular  ARK:  Survival Evolved, written by a guest contributor known only as "Salt Lake."  Be sure to follow his story, starting with day one here!

Marketing gimmick, ARK developers need to streamline their graphics code, as of right now it's a mess... Brings 980 series gpu to its knees and has no scaling. Got my rebate from steam just a half hour after installing 2x gtx 680s, and by no means on the cutting edge but no slouch either.

I watch Ark streaming on Twitch all the time. The Nvidia channel streams it a lot.

As for code being a mess, it's sort of surprising to see certain titles that are greatly popular on Twitch like Ark and H1Z1. IRL, titles like that are a bit of a mess in certain ways. I suppose the narrative they allow through game play works well for Twitch streams though.

It brought my 980 down to 14fps in one of the larger tribes dino pens. I also have to run it on medium to get above 40 fps. The devs are well aware of this and have stated they will optimize when at the end of development. They just introduced 2 new biomes, and a mass of new animals. It makes sense, they would have to optimize, develop, revamp something, optimize again, repeat, when they can simply develop, reveamp, develop, revamp, optimize, release.

Well ark is still in early release and still very much updated. They release at least a new dino every 2 weeks and are very active with the community. Unlike DayZ and the like, that never really stopped to get bug support, Ark has had hit fixes within hours to fix bugs. I actually got annoyed because of all the hotfixes because when i plan on playing i have to update first.

Might be interesting to have an EVGA Ark server.

I like that idea, I wonder if Eddie would approve?

Definitely something we can look into.  I'll run it by the team.  Thanks for the suggestion.
