Hi all
about a week ago I received a brand-new GTX 960 SSC 4GB ACX 2.0+ as a gift from some friends... After trying it for a week, I was not too "impressed"... I began to think of taking a 970 and I learned of Step-Up Program...

The problem is that, being a gift, obviously the receipt/invoice is not in my name, but neither is it a second hand card... Have I some chance of being accepted?

    Welcome to the forums!
The 960 is great card, and should be able to handle any game that you throw at it. I have two, and I love them. Unfortunately, as a gift your card would be considered second-hand, and wouldn't be eligible for the Step-up. If your friend that purchased the card were to register it themselves, and upload a verifiable invoice, they could enter the step-up.

I know, move from an HD 5750 1GB to the 960 was a nice shot  but you know, "you always want more and more"

Two? in two different assemblies or in sli?

I've got two 2GB 960 SSCs in SLI. Upgraded from a single 1GB 460 that managed to hold its own for a while. Heck, it got a 127 in Fire Strike Ultra.

If you're gaming at 1080/1440p ultra/high settings, the 960 will be fine.

I read a few reviews about the SLI for the 960....yes, good results (depending on the game and considering compatibility problems) but generally not worth it for the actual price and also in terms of power consumption..

Also my 5750 has endured for quite a while

I play at 1080p, with some games it performs excellently: MGS V (with all settings on ultra, the minimum that I have observed was a 48 ); Kerbal Space Program (but here most of the work is for cpu); Wargame Red Dragon;...
But it suffers with games like Far Cry 4 (with all filters turned off and the settings not at the maximum) and Company of Heroes 2 (which performes barely better than with the 5750  the antialiasing in this game is a  pain in the

now I'll see with the next games.....Elite Dangerous, Fallout 4, Just Cause 3...  if it is necessary I will evaluate a SLI

Far Cry 4 seems to be a dog on any hardware it's run on, but you should be able to push just under 60FPS on a single card. With two, you'd be pushing in the 90s.

I'm anxious to see how Fallout and Just Cause 3 run, too.

60 would be good for me  I'll try to lower settings again, like shadows...

I am always been surprised by the ps3 version of Just Cause 2, visually excellent like the pc' one; the game itself was very "light" to run....I hope it will be the same for the 3  no official requirements currently, but someone speculates on a GTX750/HD7790 as recommended

I think Fallout will be a bit heavier as requirements

I've only played the PC version. I still have a PS2. Just Cause 2 was running great on the 460, the two 960's get bored running it with everything set to the max, and will downclock into the 900MHz range.

Fallout 4 shouldn't be a problem for one or two 960s.

even my 5750 didn't blink while running Just Cause 2
