I opened a policy for my daily driver on 8/25 and paid $299 for down payment, first month included (Is what they told me and how it always has been for every insurance I have had) this was at freeway insurance through a company called "Everest National Insurance" About a week later I get a bill saying I owe $144.69 (My monthly rate) ON 9/11?!?!? So I paid $299 for 2 weeks only? Hell no! I called them and they wanted to refund me $20... Pfft... Nah.. I told them minimum I would accept is $70 which is half my premium, But they said $50 is max they can do... I told them they can keep their $50 and I'll be at the office for my full refund, Where he said they wouldn't do a refund there... Well.. It was reported to management and I'm going to receive a call back to see how they're going to handle it. I swear, I'm done letting big companies rip me off, If they don't give me the $70 I'm going to make a scene (Even if I have to look like an ass) until I get my $300 back. Let's see how Freeway Insurance handles it....

this sound fishy to me, it reminds me of this:

Well first of all why would you need a down payment? Is your driving record/credit that bad?

That does seem expensive. Did you shop around? Also, this is a GPU forum.. I would think a car Forum may be able to give you way more insight into this. May I ask you general age (18-24, over 25, over 30)? Did you go for high coverage or just standard full coverage? I only have a 2004 dodge pickup, but I was quoted full coverage on a 2015 Subaru WRX at $40 higher than my pickup.. Total, it was around $850 a year for a brand new car. Brad_Hawthorne

We used State Farm for years, just talk to a few different offices and see who you click with better. Sounds like you got screw'd!
