I'm not sure I would say this is a good business decision actually. There's well-established, cut throat competition, and high R&D costs associated with a first run of laptops.

Obviously they think differently, and I hope so, I would like to see them do well.

It makes more sense to me than tegra note or shield and a natural progression of sorts, way more appealing for enthusiast power users that EVGA faithful are IMHO

Competitor to ASUS' "Republic of Gaming" series, with "Classified" laptops perhaps?  I wonder what they will call it, heck I'm sure selling nVidia's Shield and NOTE gave some a taste of playing OEM.  It will certainly expand from here, this isn't a short-term investment on portfolio.

The one thing they will offer is still the best product support in the market.  If they can come up with good mid-high range machines they should do alright.

I will stay with desktop but I wish all success to EVGA same as with power supplies.
It's good because they want to start something what many people see as future,
but need to pay attention and on small PCs market.
For 10 years small case as Hadron will hold 4 GPU and 10 core processors.

I have mixed feelings about it. Seems like they're trying to ASUS ROG. EVGA is venturing out of it's comfort zone with something like this.

I can't speak directly for EVGA but for economic growth a company has to expand in some way and maybe take risks. ASUS has a lot of capital and good engineering BUT their laptops are usually not the 1st item that comes to mind when you think about their company. Personally I'd like to see EVGA expand their current lineups as well.

Yes, rjohnson11 is right, we need to be more flexible judging...if EVGA decide to try on some other markets that doesn't mean they will stop to produce hardware for enthusiasts and overclockers... And EVGAs employers love to OC and play games I can bet. But that market is not so huge... ASUS become more profitable because they start to sell almost everything, not only motherboards, server motherboards and graphic cards. Now they sell cell phones, ruters, monitors, sound cards, keyboards, mice, headphones, laptops, gaming laptops, tablets, and who knows what else... I can bet they sell more cheaper monitor models for office than graphic cards. Because of that they have later more to invest in marketing. MSI enter in laptop market, GIGABYTE as well, ASRock build some small PC. Zotac same. If some company is strictly connected with one market if something happen with that they could finish bad, in best case they will not grow at all and situation in company depend from small market.
Sapphire example is not in best position, they depend from AMD and they hold 20-30% of market only...
Maybe EVGA should start to offer and finished configuration, to build for people small but very powerful rigs, something similar as Alienware. Their motherboard/ graphic cards, PSU, memory with their heatsinks, only Intel processors, Intel SSD and WD HDD, customers to choose size and model.
