People are posting real problems. Of course a workaround is to "temporarily not use PrecisionX", but really, users are expecting PrecisionX to work correctly. I would hope that EVGA also has that expectation, but so far, I remain unconvinced, and am forced to use Afterburner for my needs.

I realize that. Precision X isn't needed for something like solitaire. Did you NOT notice the request to see what gpuz reports?

I suggest using precision X 4.2.1 or afterburner unless you need something very specific to precision X, like rgb control for the K|ngp|n cards.

I 100% wish Precision X was fixed, but I am not an encoder and can't do anything to help other than report the issues. As I have said from the beginning, report the issues or help them with coding... That's the only two options since they can not possibly test every single scenario out there, with every ssd, hdd, cpu, motherboard, gpu configuration there is.

I'm just going to copy and paste my problem with Precision 5.3.7 here verbatim from my thread I created:

I cannot use Precision 5.3.7 due to a number of missing direct x related .dll errors. This only seems to occur with the mirrored version and not the version available via steam (which I have tested as working), however I would much prefer to use the mirror version independent of steam. Also, after installing Precision a number of directX files will begin to install, and I do not remember seeing this on previous versions of Precision when I used to run Windows 8 .1 Pro which I recently migrated from.

Currently running a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Using 2 x 780Ti's in Sli
Nvidia Drivers 355.60, only graphics drivers and physx are installed and no other extras

Please see screenshots attached of the .dll errors shortly after opening Precision:

We have identified an issue that may cause some DX9 game titles to crash, like Hearthstone, CS GO, etc. We are working on this and expect to have a resolution shortly.

Any Update on this Jacob?

Anybody try this yet?

I have tried the run time installer specifically to try and fix my missing direct x files with Windows 10 and the installer fails to finish. I did try this before reading your post as I googled the errors I have been getting and it seems to be related to older versions of direcxt x missing from Windows 10 installs, however I cannot confirm this 100% but it seems like a logical explanation (why else would I be getting the errors?).

You can try this updater. This one replaces all DX files where the other just updates the missing files: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

EVGA Precision work well for me to controlate the working video card (clock, fan curve, temp, etc.), the problem sometimes is the OSD, it doesn't work.  Now I found an alternative for it, I´m using HWinFO64 + Riva Tuner for OSD control.
Time ago I tried with Afterburner, but the temp. of my EVGA GTX 960 went up to 72ºC, whereas with EVGA Precision the Temp was 59º C max, so I unistalled it.

This didn't seem to fix the same 0xc000007b error I'm getting. I have since deleted the direct x files from the main directory of Precision X where I dumped them previously, where as I used to get the missing files error I now only get this, so something must have been deposited somewhere at some point into Windows folders.

GPU-Z is showing that Precision has overclocked my cards, I just get this annoying error every time I start Windows it seems.

- The option for "START UP OFF" and "START UP ON", will "Apply a predefined profile at Windows Startup", per the tooltip.
- The option for Settings -> General 1/2 -> "START WITH OS", will "Start with Windows at bootup", per the tooltip.

I think you are wanting the 2nd option I described, not the first.
And I agree this interface is not intuitive at all.

EVGA precision X 16 5.3.7

EVGA GTX980 Ti SC /acx cooler
My fan profile controlled both fan. When you set a custom fan curve both fan are under control of the software.

EVGA Titan X SC/stock cooler

Recently Precision X16 (ver 5.3.7) was allowing the card to run REALLY hot. I'd set a custom fan curve, but it seemed to have stopped following the fan profile and card would reach 91C. Have uninstalled and rolled back to ver 5.3.6 and fan profile seems to be working properly and card is keeping much lower temps now even underload, (BF4 Ultra, 120fps temp remains around 78C).

I had similar errors with Precision X 16 last time I used it, experienced the exact same error messages with EA Origin too... A google search later, I found a forum post somewhere saying to repair .NET Framework. I forgot what the utility was called (and I've since done a clean install of Windows, so I can't go back to history to see), but it was a repair utility specifically for .NET Framework from Microsoft's site. After I ran that, it repaired .NET Framework installation and I stopped seeing the errors. :)

If anyone also happens to be having trouble with Windows updates failing, find a utility called "dotnetfx_cleanup_tool" on MSDN and run it, use the "cleanup" option. After it completes, run Windows update again. If there are still Windows update failures, run the utility again the same way, and then try Windows update again. Should work. :)

Closing Precision. Some times I see EVGA PrecisionX Server running in the background refusing to close with Precision. I don't even use OSD any ways or have it enabled. Its doing it right now. Windows 10 64 bit.

Running PrecisionX 5.3.7.  So, I don't just do gaming on this machine.  I do work also, and this:

beyond being annoying to see it, it just isn't right.  Must PrecisionX put its OSD hook into everything with a UI window running on my machine?  Sysinternals process explorer shows PrecisionXServerHooks_x64.dll hooking into all kinds of software on my machine that I don't think it should.  Likewise, some software (Logitech setpoint for one on my machine) is conflicting with it.  Just my opinion, but maybe it should primarily only hook full screen processes (i.e. games, GPU benchmarks etc) and then maybe offer an opt in for windowed processes (not an opt out) if someone wants the OSD in a window.

I can't set fan curve's lowest value to zero speed and save it when in Auto mode. It seems that lowest value is 1% which causes my GTX980 SC constantly bumping fan speed between zero and 1% even when temp is below set min. value (40C in my case). If I select manual mode and set to zero speed then it is saved and fan does not bump up and down between 0-1 % speed.

Jacob, can we atleast get some info about fixing the crashes caused by PX in different applications like Media Players, various games, 3D modeling packages and the odd application? Are you guys working on something? Or will this keep going for another full year? Maybe hire more programmers? It isn't just flat out revenue and ignore the issues. That is how a company falls down, you know. Tell your management to check history of a lot of companies. It is always what the company considers "Small things" that ends them...

Seriously, you guys are THE top NVidia vendor and not fixing this PX crashing issues will be your downfall.

Silence is not good. Obviously they are having serious issues with this software themselves. It should have been pulled a long time ago until actually fixed.

Did you forget 5.0? They pulled it with in days and everyone whined, after screaming it should be removed. So, yeah.. Pulling it does nothing but cause more complaints.

Why won't my OC stick with Precision X?  I have a profile set, but every time I start my computer it's back to stock settings or if I am playing a game and I leave the game to say go to the web, it reverts back to stock settings. Also, whenever I try and run 3DMark program it reverts back to stock settings, so I can't benchmark my OC.  What gives?  I have to use Nvidia Inspector to get the job done.

Thanks
