I am having a problem with the latest version of Precision 5.3.7 and my fresh installation of Windows 10 64bit, where if I choose to install from the EVGA mirror shortly after installing the software and then opening the program I cannot use it due to a number of missing direct x related .dll errors. This only seems to occur with the mirrored version and not the version available via steam (which I have tested as working), however I would much prefer to use the mirror version independent of steam. Also, after installing Precision a number of directX files will begin to install, and I do not remember seeing this on previous versions of Precision when I used to run Windows 8 .1 Pro which I recently migrated from. Currently running a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro 64bit Using 2 x 780Ti's in Sli Nvidia Drivers 355.60, only graphics drivers and physx are installed and no other extras Please see screenshots attached of the .dll errors shortly after opening Precision:

All of those .dll's either need to be placed into the C:\Windows\System32 folder or the main install directory where mirrored precision is installed/located. You might even need them to be in both places. Check the main install directory where the steam version is installed/located and copy the files needed from there to the main install directory where the mirrored version is installed/the system32 folder. That should take care of the problem.

Hi there. This has only partially fixed my problem. I did locate the files I needed in the steam installation. The steam installation seems to have an additional folder called '_CommonRedist' which contains a number of what seems to be direct x related files. Then, after searching for the files I needed there are a number of .cab files with various dates. After searching within these .cab files I found what I needed in the following .cab files entitled either 'Jun2010_d3dx*_43_x86' or 'Jun2010_d3dx*_43_x64' (where * = 9, 10, or 11 respectively). I first tried copying over the three files I needed that appeared in the _x64 .cab file and this did not seem to fix anything, so I instead tried the _x86. I copied the files into the main Precision directory. Copying them into System32 seems to have no effect. Now when I say that my problem is only partially fixed I mean that the original missing files error has gone, but I am now left with the following new error message: This only appears once each time I load Precision, and after pressing ok I can then proceed to use the program as normal. It is frustrating and I believe it is a Windows 10 related error. A more permanent solution is needed.

Windows 10 only has DirectX12 installed. You need to manually install the DirectX End User Runtime that contains DX9, DX10 and DX11. There's no need to copy individual files from anywhere else. Windows 10 is the same like Windows 7 where you needed to manually install DirectX 9 when programs needed it. Below is the official download link for the developers DirectX version to include with their products. Enjoy. Nope. Still the same 0xc000007b error. GPU-Z is showing that Precision has overclocked my cards, I just get this annoying error every time I start Windows it seems.

That error usually occurs when the microsoft visual c++ redistributable package is not properly configured. Below is the procedure for replacing the corrupted/misconfigured windows files which should solve the issue you're dealing with... #1 Download the archive here. The archived contains 5 files... mfc100.dll, mfc100u.dll, msvcr100.dll, msvcp100.dll and msvcr100_clr0400.dll. Please save these files to any location on your PC. #2 Reboot your computer into safe mode. #3 Access c:/windows/system32/ #4 Copy all five files to c:/windows/system32 replacing the current ones. #5 Reboot in normal windows mode. #6 Run the microsoft file system checker (sfc). The steps to perform this action can be found in here. #7 Reboot pc. #8 Run precision.

Guess you didn't see where the archive was hosted from.

Whilst in safe mode I cannot overwrite msvcr100_clr0400.dll in system 32, all other files will overwrite. Suggestions?

Done. My message after integrity check was "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". I've reset, loaded Precision X and I am still left with the 0xc000007b error. Is it possible that I need to have installed some specific C++ redistributables that Precision requires that I may not have currently installed?

If you can't get precision working properly you might want to try out the latest version of msi afterburner.

Yes i did see it sir. I think you are a fine person, but that behavior of pulling core system files from everywhere but the original location just boggles my mind. Even an employee from a nominated antivirus software company could be the main source of planting honey pots. The biggest risks in security are often those employees themselves with double roles. (Snowden, Manning, Hillary's private email, Mr. Robot etc.). The threat always comes from within, because it's often the best way to get around security. That being said. Please please please don't tell people that have no clue what they are doing and why to change core OS files my friend. Luckily you need a different workaround for the ones that are always in use. Even in safe mode. In most cases something else is going on anyway. By the time you really need to start swapping corrupt system files then you should be honest and check your hardware or reinstall your OS fully.

Guess you should have said that from the beginning then since you knew the problem from the start.

*FYI / General Thread Info* You take a chance of messing something up if someone posts a file to download that isn't an original, or specific for your windows product. Also, those people posting links should do a disclaimer when posting it. I have posted this due to complaints about this, especially in this thread. Thank you.

Updating the remaining distributables didn't work. I don't know whether to blame Windows 10 or Precision 5.3.7 anymore, but I will continue to use it as it does overclock the cards still.

Precision is the problem. Msi afterburner works better.
