Hi there,

I have EVGA GTX 690. As everybody knows, it totally has 4Gb VRAM, but actually every GPU has access only to "its own" 2Gb of VRAM. And the worst is that both of 2GB VRAMs is filled with same data, so the effect is the same if both GPUs use same 2Gb of VRAM.

Is really possible that in DirectX12 GTX690 will really use 4Gb of VRAM? In other words, will both of GPUs use all of 4Gb VRAM?

Thanks.

The future holds a lot. Exactly what is hard to say. First DX12 games (according to MS, 50%) are expected to hit shelves around December. We will have to wait and see.

no game will be dx12 only, that would be fiscal suicide, after all 75% of games now still support DX9 hardware

Im really hoping it does pool ALL ram together. I have 2 690 Signatures and have purposely held off upgrading because honestly there isnt a game out that I cannot play on max settings with these cards, but pooling the ram together would be sweetness.

    I'm with you st0n3r!
I have two 690 Hydro Copper cards and until just recently the only two cards I would even consider upgrading to is the Titian X and/or 980Ti, they are really the only cards worthy to replace them. The ONLY reason I would upgrade is for the extra memory the actual GPU's are plenty fast enough but I'm maxing out the memory all the time on games now.
Seems like an expensive upgrade for the same or 10% more FPS just to get the memory.

I'm currently on a 30" monitor running the native 2560x1600 and with that much real estate and resolution the memory becomes an issue, add AA and hires textures and it becomes even more so.
My next upgrade is a 40" 4k monitor which will need even more memory and might be a reason to upgrade to the 980Ti Hydro Copper ... expect I keep waiting for them to be in stock  ... which seems to be NEVER

^At 4k that extra VRAM is pretty much necessary. On 4k myself with single T-X and some games (a few settings even turned down) are constantly hitting over 5.5GB. Only problem is that even on a T-X, the card just can't keep up once you start using about 8-9GB of VRAM. At that point you're looking at a slide show with FPS in the low 20s.
Personally, if I were you, do your best to avoid the 4k upgrade itch for now until Pascal releases. Then chances are you won't be looking at a big $600-1K card purchase and still making sacrifices in graphics quality.

    Thanks all for response.

This guy in neighboring topic wrote that EVGA Precision X shows 4gb vram usage PER GPU and I have no reason to not thrust him:

    http: //forums.evga.com/ GTX-690-memory-with-DirectX-12-m2300321.aspx

Another guy wrote the same in another forum and even posted some screenshots:

     http: //www.overclock.net/ t/1249960/official-nvidia-gtx-690-owners-club/5520

The strange is that GPU-Z still shows 2gb of vram per gpu.

So which app is right - EVGA PrecisionX or GPU-Z? Maybe another app will show the truth?

Can anybody else test his GTX690 in Windows 10?

NVIDIA drivers in Windows 10 still don't work properly for many people; especially for NVIDIA SLI users. And DirectX 12 applications virtually don't exist.  The DirectX 12 applications which do exist are toys which aren't designed to really do anything and don't have all the DirectX 12 features.

There's no point in having people tell you what they see at this point.  Wait until there is actually something to see. Don't trust what Precision or GPU-Z says; all they would say is some number which may or may not mean anything at all.  Wait until there is a game which actually uses RAM stacking and then see what the results are.

Yes it will stack and the 353.30 drivers are the ones you wanna use for that setup IMO. I use a 3way SLI setup 760s

There is not a single game or application out that uses stacked vram via DX12. So the answer is no.

    EVGA X99 FTWK / i7 6850K @ 4.5ghz / RTX 3080Ti FTW Ultra / 32GB Corsair LPX 3600mhz / Samsung 850Pro 256GB / Be Quiet BN516 Straight Power 12-1000w 80 Plus Platinum / Window 10 Pro
