Sittin here drinkin some coffee this morning and my rig goes nuts with the connect and disconnect sound for a USB connection. This thing is constant every few minutes. So anyways after some digging I have one particular hub that seems to be going on and offline. It appears to be a usb3 hub so I checked the firmware and updated that, drivers are latest off website. It has been working fine for months no issues at all. Here's some screenies of what I got. As you can see it connects and disconnects all the time. I dunno, toss me some ideas. Yeah, ya know I just got this one up and running. Then had to wait on a BIOS chip. Not to thrilled at the moment of having to RMA it again. If it's a known issue then how about NOT shipping the boards as RMA replacement. I've played this RMA game with EVGA on mobo's for years all the way back to 780I (5 RMA's) and x59 Classy (4 RMA's). Maybe they will ship back a x79 Dark.

I found a bunch that were very close, and I get so much wrong information from Tech Support the last few years I don't even bother calling anyway until I have a mountain of evidence the hardware is toast.

Had that problem with my FTW, got a new board via RMA and it was good. Before I did that I found by moving my usb connections around to different ports, I came up with a combination which worked and none dropped out.

X79 Dark showed up, got it installed... Gives post code 67. Everything shows it should support my 4820K. Tech said might need updated bios and shipped a chip so waiting on that. Just for kicks popped the 4820K into a different board and fired right up.

There is a BIOS switch for 3 different BIOS's on the X79 Dark - the third BIOS (maybe the first, but pretty sure it's the thrid) is Ivy Bridge compliant and was shipped with ALL X79 Dark motherboards from the factory.

It is the third (switch is next to the last lower right screw hole), all the way to the right looking at the motherboard. (Switch currently shows the BIOS in position 1)

So im not sure if the same issue im having, but my x79 FTW USB ports cut out sometimes for my mouse when im playing, this happens with 3 mice, on any USB port. What is odd though is it doesnt happen for my keyboard or any other hardware. Very frustrating when using games. Its not the OS as i even reinstalled and tried multiple versions of Windows. Tried all 3 mice on other PCs and they wont fine.

I've had the same issue also, with the constant connect and disconnect sound. I never really checked into it. Last night I was playing and using the ports on the motherboard and all was going well. I go to work come home and power it back up and now anything I have plugged in isn't detected but I'm still getting power to my mic as the light is on but nothing is showing in windows device manager or even in the sound options. Could I possibly have one of the bad boards with the bad USB controller?
