If it's within a certain time frame (think a week or two) EVGA will cover the shipping costs in case of an RMA. Sorry to hear your KPE died :(. I'm still debating if I should put the EK universal block on mine, or just run it with the stock cooler.

I will either find a way, or make one.

Was there a game that came with the purchase of the Ti Kingpin?  I don't see any game being sold with it now but I purchased mine about 2 weeks ago and I thought i remembered another thread about someone asking about it?  I thought it may have been Call of Duty but in all honestly I just cant remember.

You are supposed to get Metal Gear Solid V with this purchase. You need to register your kingpin to redeem it.

After all of the raging that these weren't in stock, all of them. Have shown in stock consistently for the past few days on the US site...

Did all of the reviews and users talking about their overclocks sway the decision of those with deep pockets that all wanted the 80%+ cards?

I definitely would love to grab one for trying out, but I am trying to pay off bills.. Hopefully everyone that was screaming that the stock was bad was able to pick up their chosen cards.

I doubt it. People are idiots and love to complain when something is out. I think the fact is they're too lazy to actually check.

You're still forgetting that the lightning won't touch the kingpin. :)

The major drawback even if it was semi-matched. MSI? Yea you'd have to pay me to run that brand.

What I mean is that for sure this is the closest competition for K|ngp|n right now and a lot of customers will decide to pick msi.
Lightning series has a lot of lovers and imo it's a very successfull line.

Comment about memory on this cards is just pure marketing to convice customers to buy K|ngp|n.

For me there is nothing worse in this card (maybe except the look but cooper is also not so nice for me). Stock cooling can be even little better in Lighgtning, I wonder if there will be a throtling with two of them in sli.
Please take a note I'm not LN2 user.
I know here everybody loves Evga products and so do I but please lets look more fair at competition.

I'm waiting forward for Jaytwocents review of this card (on K|ngp|n review he  showed he has lightning allready).

I'm simply EVGA because when/if I need support I get American help. Yes it's the closest the kingpin has for competition but it still won't touch it. While the lightning series may have a lot of lovers, in the end the card is still MSI. I've had to jump through hoops the one time I had to RMA something.

The one exception was the fact I wanted the Godlike motherboard by MSI simply for the RGB lighting. The $550 price was a tad much for me though especially since I wasn't a fan of any processors they have out ATM(nothing 4GHz). I refuse to OC.

I agree that Evga service is top notch and in summary I cannot complain.
From practical point of view it doesn't look so good here in Poland.
There is no local Evga service centre so you need to pay high fee for international shipment.
The shipment to Germany takes 3-4 days, than 1-2 days for replacement acceptation and another 3-4 days to receive your item.
There is also very poor availability of Evga products in my country because suppliers don't want to pay for international rma shipments - they prefer local methods.

MSI has huge service center here is Poland. In the past when I was running my own company I had a pleasure to visit them and my impressions were very positive.
For MSI products here you have free shipping in both directions, the only problem is that in most cases before replacement they are 1st trying to repair your product.
I remember in the past when I rma my 8800 GTS 512 that has 2yrs and 10 months allready I got replaced by GTX 460 768 Cyclone.
That was a really nice suprise for me.

Sorry for little offtopic.

Just installed my TiKp.....This thing is a beast, it blows my 980 Classy out of the water.  I cant wait to see how far i can push it!!

I do have a question....With stock setting, kboost off, normal mode the core clock does not throttle down.  With the 980 classy it would throttle down to 500 or so mhz and the voltage would be at 0.875V.  The TiKp stays at 1204Mhz around 1.025V...this all at idle,  no load.

Should it be throttling down at idle, no load?

What monitor are you using, and go into Nvidia control panel and make sure that your Power Management Mode is set to Adaptive, not performance.

Thanks for the quick response Scarlet!!

Well I closed PX16 and it throttled down according to GPU-z.  It's just so hot, the fan profile on the normal bios just doesn't cut it so I have PX16 open to keep the fans up.  Even the classy would throttle down though with PX16 open and fans boosted way up.

I switched the power management mode to adaptive, no change with PX16 open.  I am on a single 1080p HP monitor, so i don't think that is the reason.

Well at least I know it will throttle down now. Ill play around with different settings to see what happens.  It won't be a stock for long so if anything I'll just mod the fan profile in the bios so i don't have to run PX16 all the time.

If you feel I should be concerned let me know, but I'm not too worried about it now that I know it will throttle down.

Make sure Px is off.. Maybe uninstall it, and try out Afterburner or PX 4.2.1 for fan control. Px4.2.1: https://www.dropbox.com/s...nX_Setup_421._exe?dl=0

I am not sure how 4.2.1 will do with overclocking, but it will at least give you good fan control over the card.

Well, I wasn't raging about it but I did want an 80%+. However, since I've never used ln2 (and will be very busy till Dec) and actually plan to game on the card I decided it'd probably be best to just get a hybrid. Now 980ti or Titan decision

FYI for anyone using the new 355+ drivers...

There are some new issues I'm seeing with these new 355 drivers + with grey screens and general instability when overclocking on 980ti kp. Especially on Ln2, its hard to extreme overclock on them and entirely possible NV has put some corking in these drivers related to power limts/thermals etc similar to what they did with 350.  If you run into any of these issues when overclocking or your card and it was perfectly stable before at a higher air clock like 1550mhz air, but now stuck 1520mhz or lower with grey screens and instability, this could be your problem. Seen it on multiple cards now.
Uninstall driver, sweep the registry, back to 353.62 and everything running fine and can max card out on air and push on Ln2 all the way without constant driver display errors.
I'm looking into it now... Jayz two centz was having exact same issues with his review card I sent him, he even said it in the video. NO idea what happened there lol, I sent that card personally and it's  a solid 1560mhz dx11 heaven extreme card on air.
He sent it back for me to check it and can 1550+ np lol. I think it must be related to this, but not sure yet. If anyone has similar issues like grey screens when setting clocks or voltage or the card suddenly loses mhz on air, can you try uninstalling the driver, using driver sweeper to remove ANY NV entries at all, and reinstall 353.30 or .62 see if it helps.

Yah Samsung memory is just a marketing gimmick ;)... I hope all the other companies think as you too :)
I don't want them to copy it.

Thanks Vince,
I was wondering why the Jayz two cents Video Review of the 980Ti KP couldn't get above 1520MHz, But didn't know it was a newer Nvidia Driver problem.

Yep, it's good to see that there has been an issue found..

Vince, did you see the issues with sli resolved, or have you had a chance to test it?

Not sure what his problem was, I just found these driver troubles last week.
That review was poorly done imo and seemed unprofessional to me.  I really expected more about all the features of the card like single slot capability, unique display config, pcb heater, more focus on robust memory overclocking, the fact that the card is more efficient per clock than all other Ti's, the support we are giving in the massive OC guide we posted, etc. He doesn't even understand how the nv delta clock works based on his overclocking chart. There is literally NO DIFFERENCE in real perf between overclocks on ANY card within 12mhz or less of each other. That chart showing overclocking was hilarious with cards less than 5mhz apart but KP still winning in just about every game benchmark. KP980ti should be numero uno in every single benchmark even with a lower clock than all the other cards. He says no idea why based on his comments about why he doesn't understand some resolutions of benchmarks are scoring higher/lower. Delta just wasn't right on nv clock, if you run multiple instances with a real time clock monitor, you can see the clock in precision will change sometimes at start of bench or when setting offsets the frequency will jump 2-3 mhz with just 1 offset or not even change at all with up to 2+ offset.
That's my idea to send that card to him, he didn't ask for it or buy it on his own. I regret it now 100% now as it seems all he wanted to do was talk about his hairline, how expensive the card is, and then plug the lightning at the end :).

353.62 has been the best for me as well, both on W7 and W10.

355.82 gives me slightly higher fire strike score's at stock clocks. But I can not get my SLI OC of 1531MHz stable like with the 353.62 driver, max was around 1506MHz. Gaming wise it seems to be stable but with lower clocks and I have not experienced any gray screens with the 355 + driver's.

Thanks for the info Vince

I Agree, That is similar to what I stated in post #461 of this Thread about His Review:

" I stated "I Just Don't Know what to say anymore" because He didn't impress me with his "review" much at all including his reluctance to Try harder to Push for Higher Limits on Air Cooling not only with the GPU, But Also with the Superior Samsung Memory ( only just +400 more?) or to test the Card on LN2 which is MAINLY where the KPE Shines, if He had bothered to look at any of the Futuremark HOF Results.

If you want to know how this 980 Ti KPE actually works on both Air and LN2 Cooling , Go read the posts over at Kingpincooling.com and get the Results/Views of Vince and Other Forum Members who KNOW how (and have), Pushed the Card to it's Full Potential in the way it was Designed to do. "

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti K|NGP|N 2015/09/02 19:14:27 (permalink)
I asked this question earlier in this thread, I am also waiting to hear back from EVGA in regard's to what would cause this.

Anyone know what the red light on the right side of the card in between the kingpin logo on the back plate and the voltage switches indicates ? It only comes on at random times (some times after a driver crash) and needs a complete shut down to get it to turn off.
Both of my cards have had this light come on, regardless of which PCE slot they are in.

I never noticed the light before on my 980 kpe, but with the Ti's it has happened since day one. Earlier today when the red light came on with the top card it also changed all of the led's to the default white, then started to blink off and on.

I have tried four different driver's, PX installed and uninstalled with no change. I am not sure if this is an issue or not, just want to know what this light is for. Also does not seem to be linked with the LED flicker that happens every so often, my none Ti kpe did this as well.

EDIT: 980TiKP_XOC.rom bios fixed the led flickering but not the mystery red light.
Thanks
