ok so i have changed the cooler on my gpu to the prolimatech mk26 and installed two 140mm fans on it. the temps are great. the noise is great.

my problem is the card still thinks it has the acx2.0 fans attached and the speed settings in precision x are very clunky. my fans reach 100% of their speed (1800rpm) at about 40% setting in the profile. is there anyway to change this? i have heard/read that in the past this was sorted by a custom bios that would work with all fans and allow them to be controlled properly but this is not available on maxwell cards?

so can anyone help me with this?

    You have two choices.
    1) Modify the fan profile directly in the cards BIOS and flash the modified BIOS to your card.

    2) Use Precision X or Afterburner to modify the fan profile in software.

I like the looks of that Prolimatech mk26 and sorry I didn't know about it sooner. One of those would work good for one of my GTX-680 boards. Flashing the BIOS is iffy and not worth the risk. It is best to modify the fan profile using PrecisionX or MSI Afterburner.

yea thats where i am getting the problem.

i do modify the fan profile in precision x but it acts as if the stock fans are still attached. the stock fans could run at near 5krpm. so my fans are reaching top speed before they get to 50%.

you wont regret this cooler if you get it. its massive but its so much better than any stock coolers apart from maybe the hybrid ones. i would have gone hg10 or evga hybrid if they would fit my card but they dont :(

I was seriously considering this cooler from NZXT before I decided on full cover waterblocks fro EK: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0AJ2TN0432

Try running your GPU fans to a fan header on your motherboard and see if you can set up a fan profile in your BIOS.

that nzxt thing looks awful though, its like something someone has put together themselves. not like the hg10 or the evga hybrid.
