That's actually fairly impressive, well done on RIM's part.

    ...and finally running Google Android....

Can their price be competitive enough to compete with the big boys?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Actually that phone looks like crap. The slide keyboard is so outdated it's not even funny.

I was a fan of the BlackBerry Storm which the touch click. I loved that phone. I upgraded to the BlackBerry Storm 2, but one thing that forever put me against BB was the fact when they released the Storm 2, they knew the power button to turn the phone off didn't work. You had to power it off from the main menu. To me that forever put them on the crap list because how do you release a phone with a huge bug like this?

I'm glad they're finally running Android though. But they need to get with the times. This is the reason their business went downhill the first time, is while everybody else was updating to the times they stayed the same.

Blackberry is trying to compete with the big boys. I still love my Samsung Galaxy. I think BB needs to try a lot harder if they want to compete.

This was a quote from somebody at RIM at one point or another:

“The problem wasn’t that we stopped listening to customers,” said one former RIM insider. “We believed we knew better what customers needed long term than they did. Consumers would say, ‘I want a faster browser.’ We might say, ‘You might think you want a faster browser, but you don’t want to pay overage on your bill.’ ‘Well, I want a super big very responsive touchscreen.’ ‘Well, you might think you want that, but you don’t want your phone to die at 2 p.m.’ “We would say, ‘We know better, and they’ll eventually figure it out.’ ”

I mean look at the larger picture, how many people still prefer button keyboards over having it on your actual screen? That adds thickness to your phone that you don't need. Not only that but a high number of people probably use text to talk. I personally use swype. They're basically hoping customers switch from their better phone to that crap? It's insane to even think that they would have a logical stand point.

Well it makes more sense on adroid, older ideas for a UI that looks like a reject from 1996

I thought blackberry and physical keyboards on phones were completely dead. I do kind of miss having a physical keyboard for actual button feedback but a screen keyboard is pretty much the norm now.

For some reason, those pictures linked make the phone look super cheap.

well. They've kinda screwed themselves on this phone. Government won't use Android for security reasons and physical keys will kinda be off putting to most android users.

They literally just approved Samsun Knox devices that are Android based.

If I'm not mistaken it'll be a specially designed version with different settings though as well.

Ah. Well I guess time will tell then. It's not a terrible phone but I think physical keys are a thing of the past. I'm sure there are plenty of people who still like them but its going to be the traditional blackberry user..not necessarily getting newer customers on board.
