Already posted on short question on another thread that ended up being OT so figured to just ask the assortment of questions in own thread. There are probably answers buried to some of these questions but some threads have insane page count and some are way old. Thanks for any guidance.

1) Is there any way to configure the client to separately prioritize the CPU and GPU folding power. Using the slider in client modifies both, which id be ok with GPU running full blast. The CPU runs pretty toasty medium and full. But setting slider to slow has the GPU more often then not saying its waiting for idle even though usage on it is in single digits.

2) In regards to bonus, I assume that is the difference from base credit to estimated credit?....and it happens after 10 WU, so starts from 11 on or you get the bonus for 1-10 once you hit the 10?

3) In regards to the EVGA rewards, i see its month based and from there calendar based, so this round through march 2016, guess question is obv cant accrue more then 120 in a 12 month period, but say once april next year comes around(assuming the program continues) would i just not earn anymore or what I earned up to then goes away or at no one point you can have more then 120 evga bucks so with me starting now, i could possibly max have 70 earned. Would i need to use that, or i could keep accruing up to the 120 or?

4)Just any tips and tricks to maximize progress and minimize utility bill. :)

1. not that im aware of
2. you get a bonus on WU 11, not back-bonus for 1-10
3. as far as i know, you can just keep accumulating bucks
4. modern gpus, lol idk

also, post up your rig so we can better give advice, i dont use my cpu any more, the heat to ppd ratio is too high compared to my cards

Thanks for that anyways cause at least helped me with some. So far tempted to ignore the CPU side it seems, but spec wise an 8320 clocked to 3.9 w/o turboboost enabled. Just the SC version of the 970. Dont think stuff like mobo or ram means much for this but 16gb ofslightly OC 1600 DDR3 ram, and asus M5A99FX and cant recall what brand 240GB ssd drive.

No you are fine - just make certain you have a passkey and give it 10 work units completed and then you get the bonus.
Max EVGA credits are 10 per month. Mobo, RAM, blah blah will not get you there any faster.
Pretty much like un4given stated. Much luck!

sounds like orig assumptions right. guess only thing wish was able to let cpu run low and GPU balls to wall instead of both doing same.

If your CPU is multi core, you can set it to fold on as many cores you would like.
Say only fold 4 of 8, 6 of 8, 2 of 4 and so on.
You don't have to run all cores all the time.

Bill1024 is right on - you can run both CPU and GPU. Keep in mind you want 2 cores open per GPU for maximum ppd.
Points are points right?
Somebody correct me if this has changed.
Either way you have a real performer with the 970 SC!
I am running the 970 FTW with no OC and it runs cool and has an excellent ppd. For the money - it is the best card considering it's output per watt. Versatile too for crunching.
Fold on!!
rs
ps I also run a 980 SC in tandem and I wish I would have gotten 2 970 FTWs

yeah ive found where to tinker with the cores, its the low/med/high that wish could seperate for cpu vs gpu....would be nice to put the cpu to low and gpu high for all I cared. CPU runs hot(not hot enough to be a problem but i like cool running stuff)....and going from an AMD GPU, the 970 runs way cooler. ohh well, will see how the hardware goes over time. Seeing some of the threads on here people have much better ulterior motives then me, Id be happy to buy a bstock 970 for the "hopefully few bucks more each month" in electric bill difference.

I stopped folding on my CPU some time back to much heat for small amount of points.
I have noticed my MB and ram run cooler since stopping CPU folding.

I just noticed that the slider controls the # of cpu cores. I never knew that.

Another voice echoing the welcome! I see others have already answered your questions, so I won't add to the noise on that aspect.

I WILL say that the 970s have been a fantastic purchase for me and I'm looking forward to my third in the future as I eagerly await the Pascal chips (Yeah, because they're going to be folding MONSTERS, but if nVidia is able to get them to register as a bootable processor . . . A GPU running your system instead of the CPU . . . Mmmmmmmm

I dislike the noob web and slider interface they have, so I too didn't know the slider adjusted cores. You can open the advanced controller in your task bar and manually config your cpu to only fold on say 4/8 cores and have your gpu fold. You can also pause individual slots, so if you are gaming you can pause the cpu or gpu or both without adjusting the slider, just remember to unpause them once your done.

Edit: As far as i can tell the default setup will leave at least 1 cpu core per gpu you have folding (aka 7/8 cores folding cpu with 1 gpu folding), but depending on your rig and clock speeds you may want to do 2 cores per card.

i just removed the CPU from the slots section and problem solved trying to sort out what want going full or med or paused. GPU can run full for all i care till i want to fire up a game. was way more annoying forgetting CPU being used and lack of quickness. I use my pc for general use pretty much all the time, i dont game all the time. So GPU being utilized "full" setting less noticeable then the CPU side.

I deleted my CPU a long time ago as I found my video boards produced more without it. I normally let my secondary board Fold all day while my primary sits and waits for nightfall when I've had enough gaming and web surfing. I noticed that just moving my mouse to light the display back up would cause my ppd to drop dramatically and pausing to play a game would cost me as much as 25% of my bonus points.

well electric bill in ballpart of last years same month bill so def will keep doing at least the 1.5 mil level. Makes sense cause came from a couple 6870s so even running at full blast for a few hrs each day the 970s pwr use overall should be way lower. an more space in my tower with 1 less GPU the rest of the insides run cooler. So triple score between better card, cooler running and making some bucks to double up on the 970s in the future(or sell and upgrade depending what NVIDIA does with their next gen)
