Hey guys,
Registered my new EVGA Z170 Classfied motherboard and my RAM and CPU have arrived.
As of yet, I have not upgraded my system with new components due to reading about the issues regarding installing Windows 7. It was only due to reading the review at overclockers.com "    "" that I became aware of it.
Since then, I have contacted EU EVGA Support and they advised that "" You can plug the keyboard and mouse into the black USB 2.0 ports and the flash drive in the blue back ports as the black ports will work. You can also alternately use a SATA DVD drive and have the keyboard and mouse in the black ports.""
Thus, I should be able to use the USB 2,0 ports for my mouse and keyboard ? However, reading comments on the forum here suggest otheriwse.
 
I have my original Windows 7 Home Premium Installation DVD and its an OEM pack (OEM Product Key).
How do I proceed ?
Any help appreciated as I don't want to wait for the new BIOS as no ETA and have everything ready to go.

    Cheers mate - just posted in that thread now as the new BIOS - Version 1.04 - is now available and resolves the issue.

    Hey Guys,
    Can someone explain something to me please ?
    I got a reply from EVGA Tech Support advising me to flash the new 1.04 BIOS before running the install of Windows 7 (which I was aware of). They then added the following as well --
    " We have an item called "Windows 7 installation" under boot page and user need to enable this item.
    But for E179, user also have to disable Marvell SATA controller before Win7 installation on R104. "
     
    What (if any) are the disadvantages to disabling the Marvell SATA Controller ?
