I have a new SR2 I purchased but never installed! Should I sell or get the next new best?
What is the replacement MOB? Still Xeon or better power CPU for dual and quad CPUs?
I am considering selling the new SR2 with all extras, 16Gb of matching KINGSTON HYPER-X 2x 8Gb DDR3, SAPPHIRE VaporX HD4890 GPU, areca SAS 1800i RAID PCIe card, and my new Mountain Mod case for the huge SR2!
What is logical choice? I am not into games but into a great system for high performance audio and video editing, etc.
What might be a preferred system to buy or build?

Thanks,
William

It would be difficult to beat the value you already have on your hands, especially that used 1366 xeons are so cheap now. Look for some low power hex core xeons on ebay and you will have a kick ass system.

After a quite intense search I just got my hands on a SR-2 and I'm feeling quite lucky and grateful... I think it's a huge plus that EVGA is still providing exceptional support and releasing firmware updates for it.

    You're welcome! Enjoy it!

In 2010 Amazon had about 11 in stock, I bought all of them, started to off load them now.

Thanks! That was great foresight on your part! I'm gonna putting down some motherboard waterblocks pretty soon.

X5680's are 150 a piece on Amazon. A pair will easily beat a 5960X across the board

I couldn't find somewhere in my region cheap X58 Classified, because I saw lot of cheap CPU for 1136, from i7-950 to Xeons.
Some of them for 20-30e. Even before few days I saw sealed i7-950 for 45e. Someone forgot on him probably.
Just one little RIG for fun to stay on motherboard box from X58 Classy E-770.
But that's for multi application in single threat Davil Canyon beat them easy and special Skylake.

The most recent firmware update for it isn't exactly recent. The Marvell SATA-3 firmware is far behind what is actually available, and there are a number of long standing bugs in the BIOS that are almost certainly never going to get addressed (list discussed in a different thread). So don't be so quick to over-give credit where it isn't due. SR-2 was EVGA trying to punch far, far above their engineering weight and while they deserve full marks for trying, the analysis of success doesn't withstand scrutiny.
