That mem speed isn't that impressive for hynix. I've seen Titan x mem come close to that on air.

You can get similar results from your average Classified. While this isn't an LN2 test, it looks like the thrown won't be changing any time soon. That being said, the Hynix memory seems to be working pretty well on air.
I read the review and wasn't surprised at all! But more surprised by it not reaching 1500mhz on air!!! The price for this card is not as bad as I expected it to be.

I would still take a kingpin over any of these cards for a lot of reasons! Let's see what happens when Asus release their Matrix cards

Everyone wanted JayZTwoCents review.. Here it is (not sure if the video player will work for me.) it's 30 minutes long and shows the 980ti KPE outdo a couple of things, like benchmarks, but for the price, is it worth it on air? Quick answer... How deep is tour wallet and does the answer actually effect what you buy? Probably not, so what does it matter? I want to say, watch to the VERY End. You will hear exactly why it took so long for the video to be released... 1525mhz... On air... The G1 Gaming was higher on the air overclock, ran cooler and costs less. Water won't change much with the overclock, but will run you another $150 minimum just to get it under water, putting you $300 dollars over a card that nets you 100 points less on firestrike... Is it worth it? Ask your wallet. No one else can decide for you.

Great point! Seriously this is the problem with reviewing such a card! Was he expecting 1600mhz on air. What was the Asic of his sample? This is all subjective. Like what has already been said by Vince on this very forum 72% asic cards barley overclocked to 1550mhz on air 80% + was as high as 1600mhz on air using less to no voltage. This card is all about having fun tweaking and so forth. What is the point of having a card you can't mess around with. People need to think logically about what they want and their needs. If it's just a gaming card then by all means there are other options out there.

Did you watch the video? It clearly shows he Asic and he even talked about the original. 77% ASIC and it was his second sample since the first wouldn't overclock past 1520. The point of posting this is that it isn't meant to be an air cooled gaming card as many are spending the money for. Water isn't going to change much. It's meant for cold and anything that isn't, won't help this card. You ghosted me ;-)

the OCN forums are filled with people buying multiple 980tis of different models to use on air in their cramped little cases with stock fan profiles, then returning them because they didnt hit 1600+ on stock volts/stock fan speeds. its quite hilarious to watch.

No I just got in the house! I will watch what he has to say! Yeah your right about this being made for cold. Unless you really know what you are doing. But still nice to have something that can obtain silly overclocks if abused enough right?

I think Hilbert recently reviewed that MSI Lightning card and he couldn't even overclock that past 1500mhz . But still rated it a great card in other areas. And the potential when playing around with tweaking it.

i actually threw my 980ti kingpins in an active volcano because they didnt run at 1900/10000 mhz with the heatsink completely removed and it didnt come bundled with my own personal island.

There was someone on YouTube who got his Galax 980 ti hof ln2 up to 1575 MHz on air and his asic score was like 74% might really come down to luck of the draw with overclock
