Hello,
I am just wondering if I have a trouble with my GPU or is it the driver's fault.
I have just received a GTX 670 FTW from RMA (my old 570 SC died 2 weeks ago from overheating).
So I have installed it and noticed very small artifacts (like one or two lines under close/reduce buttons in windows) or random lines on the screen (especially when I move a window).
Weird thing : when I move windows from one screen to another (dual screen set-up)...the artifacts is still at the same place...but on the other screen.
1st thought were "bad drivers" because I had to roll back to an older previous version of Nvidia driver able to work with a very old 7900 GS that I have uninstalled prior to set the 670 up.

What I did :
- I have installed lastest version Nvidia drivers, uninstalled, re-installed latest ones....no changes
- I have switched the card to another PCI-e port...no changes
- I have dusted PCI-e port ...no changes

Other information :
- When I uninstall Nvidia drivers and get low resolution with Windows built in VGA drivers...no more artifacts !
- I have ran a 24 hour Memtest few days ago... 0 error detected
- GPU never got over 45°C (113°F)

To me, it seems software related...but I can't get rid of it.
Has anyone had the same issue ?
I am considering doing a Windows 10 clean install (again)...in order to start with something fresh, but I would be really disappointed by loosing time if it doesn't change anything

System info : 750 W PSU - Windows 10 x64 - Mobo : Asus Maximus Formula III (P55)

You can try this hotfix driver for Windows 10 to see if it helps: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/geforce-355-80-windows-10-hotfix-driver-download.html

For your motherboard? I don't see any Windows 10 support for it yet if they're even planning on it. The latest BIOS is "Maximus III Formula BIOS 2202". You could have a defective video board too. You can submit a support ticket to start the RMA process. More than likely they will upgrade you to a 700 or 900 series board since the 670 is in limited supply.

I was thinking about GPU firmware/bios update (I haven't checked if it's up to date).
I'm kinda surprised, I have just received this 670 FTW from RMA return. It would be surprising (but not impossible) that the card is faulty

EVGA doesn't list any BIOS updates for their video boards. They do have BIOS updates available for specific problems. You'll need to submit a support ticket and describe what problems you're having to see if a BIOS revision is available to address that particular issue or just call EVGA tech support on the phone. They should be open now. It's 9:00am in California.

I have seen this thread in the forum :

But First, I'll try a DDU uninstall + new driver you've linked and tell you how things are going.
Thank you for the advice

Select 'Advanced or Custom' install, uncheck all boxes except for video driver and PhysX. Then place a checkmark in the box for 'Clean install'. No real need for driver cleaners since nVidia put them into the installer as the 'Clean install' option.

Check to see if any BIOS updates are available for that problem. Have you checked the game's forum for other users with the same issue?

I have tried if it happens with 3D : in game...I see small artifacts on textures...
I will try a full Win 10 install...if nothing get better...I might ask to return it for RMA

Reinstalling Windows 10 with fresh latest drivers update didn't help.
I'll contact tech support for a RMA...again

Have you tried any of the other outputs on the card? Have you tried using a different display cable?

I have tested the card on an other computer (which usually run a EVGA 660) : same issue again.
Faulty RMAed card

That's a shame when a video board fails that soon. Good troubleshooting on your part. Great job!

I had a lot of bad luck with 680s that that fizzled and slowly died on me. I eventually got one that will overclock like a Banshee and won't die. Good luck with your replacement.
