THE NEXT ENTRY IN THE BATTLEFIELD FRANCHISE IS COMING IN 2016

09:19 am, Jul 31
by:Nate Hohl
During its first quarter fiscal earnings call of 2016, Electronic Arts revealed a bit of information that shouldn’t surprise anyone: a new Battlefield game is coming in 2016.

EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen reiterated the company’s strategy for core games during the earnings call, saying that the company plans to release one “core” game each year. Jorgensen confirmed that this year’s core title is Star Wars Battlefront, while next year’s core title will be a new Battlefield game.

Several additional games are due to be released during the final fiscal quarter of the year (January through March, 2016). These games include Unravel, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. Players still have several other games to look forward to this fiscal year, including Madden NFL 16, NBA Live 16, FIFA 16, and Need for Speed.

Well unless somebody else publishes it I doubt I'll be playing it. I skipped BF4 & Hardline because I was unhappy how they managed BF3.

Well the whole life of BF3 they kept updating stuff and never left it alone, for every one problem they fixed, they made two additional. Then cheaters still run wild in it, it's kind of crap. I ran into three aimbotters within 10 mins on one server.

Im looking forward to it. I have loved and put more hours into BF3, BF4, and BFH than any other game I have owned. The only exception is one other game, that is Madden and they stopped making that in 2008.

I really liked BF3 but to me BF4 the movement just feels weird, the guns and sounds of bullets hitting people also feel just off to me. I would really enjoy a true BC2 sequel though. Get rid of all the crap they added in BF3/4 and just go back to the good ol bad company 2 mechanics and storyline.

If only they had strafing while running, my biggest gripe. Other wise its a blast going back to bc2. Sniping feels so much more enjoyable.

They should have made a Bad company instead of the hardline mod. To me they are a lot of fun. I hope BF5 [or w/e] is innovative, and has some new features that are actually useful.

I'll be looking forward to it as well. I still play BF4 to this day, and it's still just as fun as when I played it initially. I also wish they would bring Madden back to PC. I still reminisce about being in Dale Earnhardt Jr's DMP Madden league in Madden 06. Those were some fun times for sure.

You guys realize that BF series is deliberately episodic, so they can milk you for a new sale yearly right? It's not about the content of the game, it's about always having something new to sell you.

And this is why I stopped buying battlefield games right away. They started doing the same things as COD, except are a little more reasonably priced. I finally picked up BF4 and all DLC w/ premium for $25. COD releases yearly titles but the prices are ridiculous. They still want $20 for MW2 and earlier titles for chirst sake. I thought about buying some of the DLC zombie maps for Black Ops 1 to play with friends occasionally but at $10-$15 bucks a pop ill pass.

Exactly, we are talking about real Battlefield games, which Hardline was not.  But that still isn't yearly if you count Hardline (which no one does lol).

The thing that bothers me, and maybe what Brad was referring to, is are they going to continue releasing games like Hardline marketed as Battlefield to sell games? Hardline easily could have been sold as actual DLC for BF4 (not this selling maps and guns as DLC) but they decided to release it as a battlefield game. Im fine with new Battlefield games every 2-3 years but if they start releasing rehash games like Hardline then im going to lose hope.

Not me last one I bought was BF3 and then came the "premium" DLC which cost as much as the game. They're definitely milking it. Dont forget about Battlefield: Star Wars (Not a typo btw).

So you're telling me that the BF series has not had at least something constantly being sold as new for as long as I can remember? And by sold, I mean take a $60 title and add onto it another $120 in DLC. Rinse and repeat in a cyclical manner on whatever rationalized timeline you want to split hairs over in order to sell you another iteration.

if you're a fan of battlefield series you play them all, enjoy them all. Its better than COD no doubt in that. Arma isnt competitive enough. i own every bf since 1942. great series. my 970 ftw+ 2.0 Rocks it at 150 fps cant wait for a SLI to get going.

Many reviewers and players agree with this 200%. I am still playing it with another account, helps to avoid the miserable trolls.

Till this day, many, and I mean, many are asking the same thing, when EA is releasing the sequel of BC2? No word on it.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

    BF1942 - Sep 2002
    BF2 - June 2005
    BF2142 - Oct 2006
BF BC2 - March 2010 (was good enough that I will count it as a real Battlefield game even though BC1 was console only)
    BF3 - Oct 2011
    BF4 - Oct 2013
BF5 - Late 2016 (most likely Oct again)

You saying they release a new game yearly is a hyperbole; in the 13 years Battlefield has been out, they have only released 5 official games (6 including BC2).  And you saying $120 in DLC is another hyperbole (Premium is only $60 when it first comes out).  If you want to say that they release a new game every few years and add on $60 DLC, then I have no problem with that since that is actually true.  But what you are saying right now is just a flat out lie, sorry.

If I'm going to buy anything from EA from now on, it's going to be from a third-party website.  None of the $90 shenanigans.  The new NFS is going for $80 to $90 as well as many other titles.  I know I stated this in another thread, but it's not worth paying that much.
