Hey Guys:

I have just been authorized to go through all RMAs and the stuff that is in storage for RMAs or issues that still are outstanding.  From my count I am looking at 6 total RMAs.  I have to get up to speed and see what was going on with the Techs and possibly UPS/USPS as several are shipping damage claims.  Sorry for the delay, but I wasn't going to work on this without an official OK.  Scribby is not doing well and I know he and his family appreciate the support.  I was able to speak with him earlier in the week and he wants all current Overlord customers to know his desire to honor all current warranty units for the next year and is making changes to his will to reflect that Overlord customers will be covered.

If you are a current RMA customer - please be patient as I am not a tech and need to understand your claim better.  Also, please address any issues to support at overlord computer.com and I will look into it.  Also, if you believe it will help - pray for Scribby and his family.  I want him to see Christmas and beyond!

Thanks again,
Karen

Hey Guys - this is Karen from Overlord.  There are a lot of crazy ideas running around the web and I am finally allowed to speak on the issue.  First, Overlord has been closed due to Scribby facing a life-threatening illness and has not been at the helm of Overlord for 2 months.  His wife pulled the plug on Overlord and its 9 employees without our notice.  As of now, I will be working with her to close out the final 6, yes only 6, RMAs that were live at the time of closure (that is out of the thousands sold in the last pre-order).

While it sucked how it happened I understand her thinking since Scribby was so concerned with Overlord it was affecting his ability to fight off his disease.  At this time it doesn't look good for him and my prayers are with him and his family.  I will be working with customers that need it once I have been ok'd to do so from Scribby's wife - she is in control of his estate at this time including his other 3 businesses.

It does suck how she shut us down so abruptly and I have been working hard to convince her to "re-open" in a small way so we can close out the very few issues that remain.  All this talk of tons of orders lost, etc. is just bull.  Scribby had the Revenant and one other monitor in production as of May that were shut down due to this tragedy.  For someone so young to be facing a life-threatening illness is truly sad.  I expect I will be allowed to cull through emails next week and plan on providing her with my recommendation on how to handle any outstanding issues.  With those that have monitors under warranty?  I am not sure how that will work to be honest.

Please join me in hoping Scribby can make a miraculous recovery and his family is protected - he truly was a wonderful boss to work for who cared deeply about his customers, the community, and all gamers alike - all this talk I have been reading has been making me sick to my stomach.  Funny how people talk when they don't know a damn thing - which was his wife's fault for letting it happen I know, but she is doing the best she can given the circumstances.

Hi Karen,

Of those six, please contact me and confirm ours is in that listing - I've sent you a PM with order number and claims number.
Last correspondence was to Tyler's inbox on June 14th and July 12th, which should tie in with the recent events from your end.

Guess I lost my money with Overlord Computer. Sent a monitor in that was failing in December right before Christmas. Told me they would be shipping me a replacement in February with his next shipment, he'd send me a tracking number and send it right away. Never received anything and contacted them in May. Told me he shipped the monitor out 2 months ago, he'd have sales open a trace. No response for 2 weeks, so I sent an email again since calling does no good. Got this reply, "I have started a UPS trace as it shows delivered (although that means left somewhere or possible stolen by UPS – which we have had happen before). The monitor was shipped fully insured so no worries there.  UPS may come by or call you to check on if the monitor made it to your house. I will keep you posted on this as it can take a couple of weeks for UPS to finish their investigation." Never got contacted by UPS, so I asked him for a tracking number cause this whole situation was feeling weird to me. I was thinking how is this place still in business with the slow deliveries of orders, obviously poor warranty service, and there's better monitors out there from reputable names for a little more money. I called multiple times again, got nothing, emailed asking for a tracking number so I could contact UPS and look the monitor up, start an investigation myself. 3 weeks have passed, no response, site is down, don't know what to do. Was worried they probably went out of business and now seeing this makes me think I'm out the monitor and my $550 I gave this company. Terrible experience I've had, hopefully I can get the word out to more places about this so if they do pop up people will look for a better option. Luckily I got an Asus PG278Q right after I shipped it off and I'm way happier with it.

The news about Scribby is sad and as with anyone, we can only hope he recovers quickly and completely.

I'm another customer who was in the middle of a months-long email thread with customer support (Tyler). Suddenly he stopped repying to my emails, as of several weeks ago. After my first display arrived with horrible backlight bleed, they replaced the panel. It too arrived with serious and unacceptable levels of backlight bleed in the form of hot spots and large vertical bands. Anything less than medium-bright images and all I see are these spots and bands. He promised a refund or a replacement. I was awaiting a replacement, but have heard nothing. The display is not useable, but I opted to wait for a replacement rather than a refund.

Karen, thanks for the update, and now that I've seen the post I will await an email from you once you've gone through the various support communications and find mine. The email thread began 2/12/15, order from 10/10/14 (arrived 2/12) - Order #S1102346. The email exchange includes 35 emails between Tyler and myself, complete with photos and assurances from Tyler.

I almost got into the same position you did, though mine didn't involved sending the unit back. Still, I have had no replacement.

February - reported high levels of black light bleed. Overlord believed the frame was warped in transit - agreed to raise RMA
May - Update : Karen advised that international incidents take longer. Tyler then followed with an update that the USPS and the Royal Mail didn't play nice together, so it added some further delay. I was informed that all relevant paperwork would be included and the claim appeared as it would go through. Shortly after a new unit would be on the way out.
June - Chased Tyler again, no response
July - Chased Tyler again, still no response

This happens in small private businesses. The owner is sick and the wife doesn't want the hassle. I completely understand that.

Look at FrozenCPU, they weren't that small and one person going insane still brought them to the brink of death.

Definitely a shame. I have an Overlord tempest. Best monitor I have ever owned. 120hz IPS 2560x1440.

Good luck to you all.

I am unable to PM those that have PM'd me.  The current status is up in the air as Scribby has been moved out of state to a specialist/hospital.  I currently do not have access to the storage facility that contains the few RMA units as well as all the parts.  I have looked at the history of all the RMAs and have spoken with Tyler/Nick/Chris (the tech monkeys) and think I understand where these stand.  However, with things the way they are now for Scribby and his family I have not heard back in almost 2 weeks.  This is something that will get handled but will take some time.  I am really sorry for all these problems and I know Scribby was upset about them as well the last I spoke with him.

Hi Karen,

As for not being able to respond to PM, that's fine ; however like mine, I imagine people have given their emails and/or RMA numbers, which have corresponding email addresses. Can you can at least respond to the emails of those of us whom have open RMAs, so we are aware they are acknowledged?

This sucks, hope Scribby is recovering.  Guess I'm screwed as my led backlight is going out on my X270OC.  By the way does anyone have a copy of the monitor driver laying around?  Reinstalled and can't find it anywhere.

Hi,
Hope he recovers.

I have a question pertaining to the tempest.
Mine has collected dust under the screen and seems to have gotten much worse after i had gotten it, has many dead subpixels, the dust is the main problem though.
Ive bought it 2 years ago, i understand there is limited warranty, any chance of getting it looked at?

Thanks

Most electronics in the USA are warrantied for 1 year, unless you have a special warranty situation and if so then I recommend you contact the email address previously given.

Hadn't checked this in a few weeks. From other forums I've seen there has to be more than only 6 RMA's. Thanks for letting me know you haven't been contacted, I have not either. Basically realized I probably won't be. But if by chance i get a surprise I will still let you know.

Not to play devil's advocate here, but humanizing the issue still does not address it for those hung out to dry by the implosion of the business.

I have still heard nothing. Has anyone been contacted/replied to?

I was offered a refund, but (perhaps foolishly) expressed confidence in and patience with Overlord to Tyler at Overlord support. In my email thread, I told him I wanted to stick with Overlord and wait for a good panel. He assured me I'd receive one. Since this is clearly not the case at this point, I hope my loyalty isn't being thrown back in my face with a nasty "life lesson". All that said, I do have my health and so I certainly feel for Scribby and his family. I'm sure all of us would trade in our purchase price for his wellness. Unfortunately everyone seems to be losing on this one, on both sides of the equation, though we all hope for his recovery regardless of what may or may not be good business.

It's not difficult to pull spare monitors out of storage units, pack them and ship to the intended recipients of agreed RMAs.
At this point I believe the legal precedings are going to begin. They've had enough time to make a proper statement about the status of the company and what they are doing on pending business.

Don't mean to bump an old thread, but I returned a monitor right as Overlord closed it's doors and did not receive my refund. I wonder if it is at all possible to get that issue resolved.

I don't think you're going to be in luck. If you bought the monitor with a credit card ask your credit card provider if there is any type of compensation you can pursue. If there is none there then there is nothing you can do.

The problem is that they billed at the time of preorder and my credit card company has a 60 day policy. I've accepted the loss, but I saw this thread and thought "why not?".

Well then, guess it's good as time as any to try and sell these hacked monitors off and buy the real thing - which can be bought for less now than the Tempest was.

HDMI/DP connectivity, better panels, 144hz, some with Gsync/Freesync, and all by companies that will honor warranties.

Does anyone happen to have a link to the color profiles Overlord used to have on their website? I didn't keep my download, and after reinstalling Windows 10, don't have the file anymore. I can't recall which one I was using, but it was a low-light environment (low brightness) profile.

Does anyone happen to have a link to the color profiles Overlord used to have on their website? I didn't keep my download, and after reinstalling Windows 10, don't have the file anymore. I can't recall which one I was using, but it was a low-light environment (low brightness) profile.

PM me your email and I'll send them.

Thanks, will do that.

EDIT: Still won't allow me to send a pm. I meet all the requirements, but the minimum of 10 posts is in read, though I meet it, so maybe it takes some time for it to process. I'll pm once able.

Don't mean to bump an old thread, but I returned a monitor right as Overlord closed it's doors and did not receive my refund. I wonder if it is at all possible to get that issue resolved.

There has been no contact, even for those of us who were in the RMA process. Overlord and all representatives just went silent and vanished. Then the website disappeared, too. Some of us left with no monitor, just stolen money. Others left with physically damaged monitors. My replacement arrived with physical damage (like an impact plus abrasions), even worse backlight bleed than my original, a glowing circle at the impact point, a band of light running vertically down the center third of the screen. It's pretty bad, and I can't imagine someone wanting to buy this thing off my hands in its condition. So it's basically a loss of the $500 I pre-ordered it for (oh yeah, then there was that whole thing with units sitting on a shipping dock somewhere in CA for weeks while we all waited and had no idea what we had truly just gotten ourselves into).
