What I find amusing is that before EVGA used to tell the customers the LOW ASIC is better for subzero cooling . Now it is telling the opposite . The 80% ASICs are , of course , the most expensive .

Nvidia set the ASIC reading guide, not EVGA.

No. The K|ngp|n cards are not part of the step up group at all. If you want to upgrade, you will have to sell yours and buy the new ones on your own.

Are we sure about this ... waiting so patiently for this card (It is the only card I want in my system, would really hate to kill the dream system with a Classified)

Really sucks that only the EU division can ship to my country, especially with them being around $170 more expensive than the US division before shipping + import fees.

you have no reason to get a kingpin card unless you are  using LN2 you can get a high asic classified without having to shell out extra cash, I mean this card was never meant to be put in cases, its meant for extreme overclocking and benchmarking.

I am 90% sure. about drop though..

really its pathetic people think they need this card for gaming or overclocking on air/water.

I will be putting this card under water within the 6 months of getting it (finish my studies by then) and for the time being I really like the cooler it comes with which is better looking and performing than the regular classified plastic piece of junk ...

Also, we don't need 4 way sli, do people still do it ... yes ... why ... because we can ... I want the kingpin, why ... cause it fits my build and has the performance I am looking for

I just learned about ASIC scores today.. such a noob.  I guess i should be happy with My EVGA 980 Ti AXC 2.0 that i received from my step up?

Are you watercooling this card? Since 75-80% seems to be the "sweet spot" ASIC quality for water-cooled GPUs, let's see how well you card overclocking relative to someone else with the same card but a different ASIC quality? Let's run our own tests and see what happens.

If 75-80% ASIC quality does turn out to be the best for watercooled cards, spending extra money for an 80% ASIC quality card would be foolish if you're watercooling it, right? I've read through all the test results for multiple cards, and so far, it seems like the Asus Strix is the way to go, at least until we see how this GPU compares. Does anyone have a idea if there might be somewhere to see test results on these cards when they're watercooled? And, which cards can be watercooled? I'm guessing only the cards with a reference PCB, but how do we find this out?

In terms of performance under water-cooling, would I be better off keeping my Titan X Hybrid and purchasing a second for SLI or should I be looking at the 980Ti K|NGP|N?

If you already have a Titan X and want to add a 2nd card to SLI, you don't have a choice but to get another Titan X. Since you have the Hybrid card, I guess you can't add an EK Dual Parallel Terminal block.

Pricing tiers for asic quality is BS. $1000 for a 76% asic. I bought a stock $650 card that has 77% asic.

LOL!  Everyone cried about the cards being binned and how they lost out because the binning process sucks, then EVGA listens and bins the card, and people cry that the pricing of those exact cards they wanted binned sucks.. Can't please them all.

Stick with your other card, as it would obviously make more sense, and from this post, shows you wouldn't use the KPE as designed anyway.  You reference card at 650 will work perfect for what you want, and there is never a justification for the KPE in this case.

You are EXACTLY CORRECT! People can't ever be happy. The people who buy these cards aren't on the forums discussing it, only the people who want it but can't afford it. Yes, you may buy a stock card and it might have a high ASIC quality, but that's the Silicon Lottery. Some people would like certainty and are willing to pay a premium for it. Imagine how many cards EVGA sells, and then picture someone testing each individual card first for ASIC quality. That's a lot of time, or money, spent to do this, but I guarantee there's a market for it.

yeah, I noticed they didn't compare any Overclocked cards against the KPE, so I disregard the entire article.  I figure they did this because that was the test samples they had available and they didn't feel like doing the research for the Factory Overclocked cards tehy have tested in the past.  Either way, i am not impressed with their write up.

One thing i took out of it, and Vince said it himself, If you aren't using it for LN2, it isn't going to do anything a bone stock 980ti can't do, other than change colors.  Now, if I had the money for one, I have a Ln2 Pot right here waiting.

How about this quote:
"When we say this card offers unbelievable overclocking, we mean it. Vince "K|NGP|N" Lucido was able to take the GeForce GTX 980 Ti GPU to new heights with a 2100MHz GPU clock on Liquid Nitrogen Cooling. "

Any ideas what ASIC quality this card was?

Doesn't matter what the ASIC quality was on that one, as he gets to access and test them to make sure they are performing properly, and he has been able to get many similar results from every part of the spectrum.

Vince even stated with ASIC the overclocks can be anywhere with any of them. It isn't 100% based on the ASIC. He could have a 76 that outdoes an 85, or vice-versa. It all depends 100% on the limit of the silicone.

Sorry I can't provide a better explanation or answer, but it's a dead horse that every has to best.

I wouldn't say he doesn't want the KPE in the hands of gamers... I would think he would rather convert a gamer that doesn't know better I to someone with the drive to want to overclock to an extreme level.

Nope he flat out said this card isn't for those people and they would be better off getting a classified... for the reason I said. You don't have to buy into ASIC levels... You could still freeze the classy, it just doesn't have 3 bios, samsung mems,  and mem heater for CB.

as far as my asic question. I know it doesn't matter I am just curious. for reference.

Nice, I completely missed the post with that. I bought the 780ti Classy under the wrong assumption... I love benching and just haven't had the only and time to devote to subzero just yet, but I have everything, except the DICE/LN2. Just need those and some time.

Since Vince and EVGA clearly states that ASIC quality is NOT a guarantee it will overclock better i feel that spending between 900 and 1100 euro's for a graphics card that might do better pointless also I'm by no means a extreme overclocker so getting the KPE would be wasting money IMHO. For the people who do extreme overclocking in any way I can see the point but for me its either Classified (If EVGA ever manages to get more than one or two in stock) or either ASUS Matrix or strix.

Besides in Denmark I can buy a graphics card online test it and still send it back if I'm not satisfied with the ASIC's quality. Consumer rights here is ridiculous if I have to go through 3 or 5 cards so be it it won't cost me a dime more :-D
