Every time I boot into windows, it takes about 2-3 minutes for the network interface to come up. I have all the latest drivers and I've tried this with various settings on the network adapter itself with no luck. This happens in windows 7, 8, 8.1 & 10.... really annoying!

I've also tried setting it to a static IP which doesn't seem to help... nfi what is causing this. Had no issues on my old MSI motherboard so I know my network is solid... any ideas? Thanks

What? If it was a "user problem", i wouldn't be posting here. I have 20 years of professional experience and manage 4 enterprise data centers for a living. Clearly not a "user problem" whatever that means.

I've been having the same problem recently. I even dropped back to BIOS 1.14. Same issue. Also did improve the situation by going into services and placing all the network entries from manual to automatic. That sped things up somewhat. But on applications, like Outlook, CPU-Z, Precision16X etal., still it takes ~45 seconds from desktop opening for these apps to open. Then after the 45 seconds everything works fine. If I wait the 45 seconds at the lock screen/password on Windows7 Ultimate before opening to the desk top, everything works fine when desktop opens. There just seems to be something going on behind Windows that's taking a lot of time. It is just rolling thru a bunch of crap in the background before it's ready to perform. I'm really curious. Anybody got any suggestions?

I am having the same issue exactly on my X79 and it's been happening now for the last month or so and I've yet to get it sorted out. Happens when I first boot up, or resume from sleep.

Not to sound paranoid or anything, but this looks like one of those Microsoft updates to prepare you for a Windows 10 cram- down-load. Just sayin'.

Guess what? This morning I have discovered that the Windows 10 emolji ( you that annoying little nag thingy begging you upgrade to Windows 10) has disappeared magically from my task bar and Voila everything opens without delay. I guess that since Windows 10 is now available for download it is unnecessary. So, it's gone and my apps now open appropriately.
But it's scary the control they have over your computer.

My thoughts exactly.  Seems some settings are enabled by default that W10 users need to figure out on their own to disable.  For example.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

Nope I have the same issue in windows7 ,windows 8 and windows 10. and this is without activating windows so it never popped up saying that I have an upgrade... its not related. I do not see the windows 10 icon in the task bar right now on Win7 and it still does it.

Well, this morning the GWT icon (Get Windows10) is back, but my apps are opening perfectly after cold start boot. Go figure. enkrypt3d your problem, although same manifestation, must be different.

Very interesting article gtxjackbauer. At some level, this just has to be wrong. Wi-Fi Sense is just one of the tricks of a "free" OP upgrade. They already have taken over the world, now they just want to control it. I have stated b4 that there ain't nuthin' free. I am now wondering what other surprises are in store for unsuspecting MS Windows users. Damn

OK now that GWX icon is back and my network is again failing to open right away. Is this just me or are they messing with us? Now I'm getting pissed..

I don't think it has anything to do with the windows 10 upgrade icon. Even before I reactivated windows7 it was doing it. Installed windows 8 it was doing it and the same for windows 10.

Just to drop my 2 cents into this. It maybe just fault of NIC logic as a whole. I had similar issues with Asus offerings many, many times (boards before X99, wifi and routers) and that's why I stay clear of them. It often took more than 3 minutes to start work which just was idiotic. And I'm not in the slightest interested on moving on from W7. Fortunately for me EVGA NICs were always up there without issues.

Simplest way to check if NIC is OK, get NIC add-on card. It doesn't have to be top of the line. Just get it and check. If problem still persist then it is in software, if not - bingo just found the culprit.

Word of caution, never install updates on auto. Anything other than security patches is suspicious 100%. Particularly now, with MS pushing same updates (backdoors) over and over again just to force users to install that trojan ridden crap...

When you say the network interface isn't working, are we talking about the network adapter not showing up?

Try this, go into msconfig and go to a selective startup, under services, disable CNG key isolation, then reboot and see if that fixes your issue. There is a known bug with this service at the moment. If that doesn't work makesure your chipset and nic drivers are up to date, and check that your cable has all its pairs in channel if it happened to be crimped by hand. Might also be a bios or vpro isssue. what CPU do you have?
