So I've read that the boost clock is unstable on some machines, for me its only some games that crash and recover except bf4 which will just crash entirely, and some are entirely fine. I am trying to lower the boost clock by 40 mhz in precision x which people have suggested but i only see the GPU clock offset no boost clock slider... any one direct to me to that? Thanks!

The boost cock is determined by a core clock. The lower the core offset, the lower your boost will be.

hm when i move the slider, the arrows on the dial dont seem to move after i hit apply... is there something im doing wrong? Plus with no changes to the slider its read regular clock 1278... shouldnt be high by default on the FTW? never mind those are right... but the arrows still dont move when i move the slider are they supposed to?

Run 3DMark Skydiver demo. If it crashes with black screen / no signal. It's defective and you need to RMA.

See thats odd because my 2 980 FTW's dont crash during the 3d mark tests they even told me to run. Yet after an hour or two in a game. Boom crashes just like the cards I originally had before RMA'ing them. -_-

its weird because it doesn't crash with any regularity... i can play 10 hours of bf4 one day and nothing, then the next happens in 15 minutes then nothing for 10 more hours of play... gonna try and see if i get them to bump me up to 980ti tomorrow... if not, maybe go down to the SC... if not that then ill have to deal for a while i guess

I think there were quite a few FTWs that got into the distribution list that did not get the fix on them, and are bound to get delivered to some customers. You're going to have to RMA your cards, again (I know... ), and have them send you the fix. What you could do is write a letter explaining that you thought that those RMA's cards were ones that had the fix to them. Sorry... Send the letter in with your RMA in the package. It's up to you though. Maybe they'll throw something in as a compensation gift or something, who knows.

Have you tried playing with Precision X closed as the newest update is known to cause these issues? It shouldn't take long to test it.
