I've only gotten one Core 21 WU as far as I know. I keep looking but all that I've seen is Core 18 running Client-type beta. Maybe I have to change my config?

I've run a bunch of core 21 units and not had problems. That's not to say that there isn't a run of them out there with problems.

The only problem I had using Windows 10 was that the Firewall blocked the Folding client and I had to change my Firewall settings to allow it through. I only ran one WU using Windows 10 and the ppd was about the same as Windows 7. It was an upgrade to 10 and not a fesh install.

I was on windows 7 and using the beta flag. Just did the upgrade to windows 10 so we'll see what happens. Then when I get a chance I'll do a fresh install of 10 and go from there.

I'm pretty sure you'll need to allow the client through the Firewall even if it was open in Windows 7, I did. I even had to open the Firewall again after I restored my Windows 7 image even though it was open before.

They seem to be running fine for me now... well maybe if they would stop with the rolling blackouts forcing me to shut them down lol.

That's the same driver I'm using in Windows 10. 353.62. I keep getting the error until my client picks up a work unit with a different core.

Core 15 is old very old give no bonus.

I just started Folding for the night and got slammed with another Core x15 WU. It seems like a waste of a perfectly good video board to me. If I get another one while I'm awake I am seriously considering dumping it as I think it's an insult to my intelligence and a waste of time and energy.

I have never dumped any work units on purpose from the very first time I starting folding on 10-2-2008. Have accumulated 349,628,626 points or so from all my folding.
Just feel like at times Stanford has been unfair with the bullying tactics used on the F@H Forum, some years back I posted a question on it and got told if I did that question again I would be banned. As a result I never posted anything on the F@H Forum again, just banned myself from them. Don't agree with bullying of any kind.
Until this post I have never posted anything negative about Stanford.

I've never intentionally dumped a WU, but I've a few that never finished for various reasons.
I figure we as folders have a responsibility to fold what Stanford servers send us. Newer bonus point rich WUs are great, but Stanford has a responsibility to complete the work of the scientists that join the project.
It would be nice if everyone moved to newer cores, but newer cores don't support older hardware that many folders use. That's why I used to struggle to hit EVGAs higher monthly targets. It would take me the while month before the change to 750,000 points. Then I purchased a newer card and still had to work real hard to hut 1.5mil in a month. The 970 I got discounted with my EVGA bucks gets me the 1.5mil in days.
Personally, the bonus point system and points in general are out if balance. It really handicaps people with older hardware and really discourages turning old systems into dedicated folders. The mega points you get with newer hardware make it seem only worthwhile to fold on newer hardware.
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

I've never intentionally dumped a WU but after I get a BSOD I have to clear out my work space to start new WU. Sometime I have to do this with BOINC GPU Tasks as well.

i guess i'm super-duper new, because i don't know what the different cores are and i don't think i could dump a wu if i wanted to, if it involves anything more than shutting off your computer in the middle of a job.
anyway, the advanced control shows FahCore of 0x18 for my gpu, so i'm assuming that's core 18? don't know what that means.
i do know that as i have been continuing, my gpu is getting bigger and bigger jobs. current eta is like 13+ hours. i'd prefer something it can consume in 8-10.

That does mean it's core 18. It basically boils down to age and speed of the work. Core 15 is one of the really early GPU cores and thus isn't as optimized for newer GPUs. It also supports more GPUs as older GPUs can't run newer cores. Core 17 is a more event core and runs slightly faster. Core 18 is the current normal core and runs really well as it has more up to date libraries. Core 21 is up and coming and is in testing. The way the cores and data are setup depends on the researchers on the project and among different core types the speed varies by type of work.
In my opinion it's not worth worrying about and as far as time to complete a unit, the cores save data at predetermined checkpoints. You don't have to finish before doing other stuff. Just pause and resume. You might loose some time, but the deadlines are very lenient.

my cards keep failing core 21 --- edit, should point out, its not the error some on here are having could be my overclock, not sure they are perfectly happy doing everything else, including core 15
