I have a hybrid kit incoming and want to see if I can fit it on my classified card somehow. Any ideas? Anyone tried it before?

The hybrid relies on the stock shroud and a different heatware. It is meant for a reference card, but you will need to find a way to hang a fan to cool the vrm and VRAM. Treat it just like the other AIO coolers. It isn't going to cool most of the VRAM on the IO side of the PCB, because airflow won't go there, so watch your temps.

If you fry your cards slowly, report back so that people will know why evga says not to install this on non reference cooler cards. If it works, report back with how you set it up so others can set theirs up.

I felt the Kraken mod was too ghetto for my taste. So now I have a hybrid kit and my second classified incoming. The block seems that it will fit just fine (otherwise I will use a copper shim). For VRMs I have a 200 mm blowing directly on the card and will possibly end up strapping a 92mm on the VRMs somehow. Not sure how though.

The other possibility is to cut the classified heat sink in the middle and use the right hand side fan on top of VRMs as is by mounting it with some super glue lol.

Nevermind, I cancelled my order and placed an order for the Kraken. If anyone wants the 980 ti cooler there is one available on the egg now. LOL.

You will absolutely have to have a shim for the Kraken. The PS3 copper shim on Amazon is perfect.

Yes I have ordered a copper shim. That one is too big. I got a 25x25x1.6.

Thanks, I was able to grab one of these and I also ordered an EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Superclocked ref card so I'm just going to build me a hybrid. Tired of waiting on it! ;)

That is the one I used for two separate 780 6gb cards (same size core). The core sits above the surrounding area and capacitors, and fits inside the heat plate area. The 25x25 is very close to the size of the core, so if it shifts, it will leave an exposed area of the core.

The shim needs to fit inside the heat plate, and if it does, it fits the entire core.

Also, spread your TIM or use the star method, please. The dot method left a substantial area of the 780 core uncovered, and had to take everything apart.

Spreading, or at least the star method, guarantees much better coverage. If you do install everything, and start getting black screens and random shut downs, check your TIM first before posting for help. My buddy had a lot of issues and about 10% of his core wasn't properly covered, so we had to fix it. Just some gee-whiz info.

I see thanks for the info. I already paid 15 to ship a copper shim from ebay all the way to UAE. If that does not work then will order the above kit.

If you need help getting it, let me know. Once you spread the TIM and place the shim, just try to go straight down with the Block, and it should mount fine honestly.

I ordered the PS3 shim as well just in case. If my top classified can take the kraken and bottom is on air, I think I will be fine. All I need is about 65 c temps and 1450/7700 for daily use.

you may see 55c, but I am pretty sure you will see even lower than that.  my buddy had two 780's, and he never saw past 45c with stock settings and really hot days.

Well just to update the thread. The shim you recommended fit like a glove. I can now do 1506/8200 on my classified in SLi. Top card with Kraken doesn't break 50 c. Bottom hovers around 65 C. Very happy with the setup and thanks to you I got the right shim :).

But, the real question is... Did you take pictures?

Thanks. Just need to clean up some wiring but I wasn't really going for looks. I don't even look at my case for months since it is always powered on. I just wanted performance and this gives me plenty. My noise is down a lot and temperatures on the Kraken + G10 combo don't break 50 C on top card and allows bottom card to run at 65 C. All I wanted out of this build.
