Ok found out that shift+f8 works. Used DDU and I'm fine again.
Thank god I backed up my old BIOS. I need to go out now so don't have time to restore my old backup but I assume I can use the new nvflash like I did before but instead replace the bios name with the backed up one right?

Yes, you would use the older nvflash to flash back to the original vbios. What is the part number of your card? The clocks in the x.rom I linked you may be to high and need adjustment, I can adjust the clocks and relink you a new x.rom with modded clocks to see if it helps resolve the issue.

My part number (i think) is 02G-P4-2774-B7:

What BIOS are you using exactly for this? You sure it's compatible?

It's not weird at all. The reason you can't find anything on the net is because of the -b7 at the end meaning the model came from bestbuy and has a different warranty period. If you remove the -b7 and just search 02G-P4-2774 you'll see your card.

Try this one... https://www.mediafire.com/?lnr23kr2b2zo0c3

Yep that installed fine with the driver,
HOWEVER
still throttling :'((((((

Thanks for all the effort you put in to getting the bios working for me though, you are really helpful

Just noticed I can raise the power limit to 150% now, should I? (nevermind just have done, still throttles the card)

Does the card throttle when using the older 331.82 driver?

Just installed, nope still throttling.
Oh and after restarting my PC power limit can actually be modified properly now though it still throttles my card to the same clock even at 150%

Just a reminder... furmark will always throttle your card. Run unigine heaven instead.

With unigine. As you can see I slowly raised power limit up to 150%, then lowered it back down to 100. Seems like it has some difference as at 150% it underclocks to 1020MHz, but then lowering it back to 100% it underclocks to 875MHz. Either way it still throttles like a ****

Also note how VDDC goes down once Pwr sets in as the perfcap reason

The card must have a problem with it's VRM's as it's going over the power %.

Setting 150% and hitting 158% isn't suppose to happen.

No it stays at 150/149% when I set it as 150% power limit, though when I initially set it to 150% it peaks at 156% for a millisecond before quickly returning to 150%

Oh and I managed to get the serial number from the person I bought it from. Just need the place where he got it from and when he got it to continue with product registration.
The part number is 02G-P4-2774-KR apparently

If the serial number sticker isn't on the card EVGA will probably not work with you for warranty repair. I'd call them up and check with them - they *might* allow repair work if they charge some money for it instead of refusing to honor the warranty, similar to what happens with physically damaged items. https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

The problem is that even if the repair is free, the shipping charges to send it to them will probably work out at some ridiculous cost. Whilst playing games it doesn't underclock much so I think I would just rather leave it be instead of getting a repair

I live in the UK, I think EVGA's repair centre is in sweden so that could cost about £40 for delivery alone, nevermind the repair cost if I have one. I cant find a sticker on the back of my PCB that shows the serial number unfortunately so there's that out of the window

Re: My new (used) EVGA 770 is underclocking in games due to power 2015/08/06 13:43:50 (permalink)
So today I was happily playing farcry 4 and my PC turned off with some horrible electrical smell coming from it. No video output when I turned my PC back on.
With further investigation and smelling components, the electrical burning smell was coming from the GPU and when the HDMI cable was plugged to my mobo and using intergrated graphics the pc boots up fine. Seems like my problem must have come from some burnt out chip or a popped capacitor or something. Messaged the seller requesting my money back.
Don't think I am going to get used products anymore, once (hopefully) i get my money back ill go with a brand new 960, not as much performance but at least ill know ill have a warranty that comes with it

How much did you have to pay for the 770? If you don't mind me asking.
