I recently bought a 750W Supernova and a MSI Gaming 5 and I simply can't plug in my CPU 1. On this mobo it needs a 8 pin connector and I only have 2x 4 pins.
Is this faulty or did I miss a compatibility issue?

Older motherboards only needed a 4 pin connector. So some psu units split the 8 pin in half for backwards compatibility. Others include a split cable and a combined 8 pin cable. The split 4 pin design should fit into the 8 pin slot side by side.

I'm using MSI Gaming 3 which has the same connectors and I don't really see the issue you have.
on the motherboard side the CPU cable ends with 2x4pin header which you just plug to the motherboards 8pin connector.
that's all you need to do and you're good to go.

That's better because EVGA CPU cables split on 4+4pin, you can't see that often.
Some motherboards use 8+4pin for CPU, GIGABYTE, ASUS... I like most 8+8 pin, anyway you need to use second cable why part to stay on side.
