Typing this out on my phone, so bear with me.
I run a dual monitor setup with the Intel integrated graphics. The Linux kernel recognizes this and uses the i915 driver module. I installed the Nvidia driver package. The system currently loads the nvidia module, which at least means it sees the hardware. The system as of yet only puts the console on the igpu and doesn't display anything on the main monitor hooked up to the 970. I don't know why X11 can't load on the igpu, the support should be there.
My system is as follows:
Z87 motherboard
i5-4530 non-k 3.4ghz
16gb ddr3
GTX 970, GTX 760, igpu
Various Hard disks and ssds
Debian 8 revision 1 amd64 mode
Xfce is my preferred windows manager.
Triple booting Win10, Win8.1, debian on flash drive (32gb).
