"Isn't Asus a much large company than EVGA^^^^^"

Big company, small company doesnt matter, its how to treat your customers that matters

Yes, ASUS is much larger company and probably has alot more resources than EVGA but I ordered over 1 month ago. - You shouldnt be selling them if you dont have them!! - or state it's a pre-order with ?? week ETA.

Dont get me wrong I think their products are great (they perform well and look good) but communication from EVGA has been poor, even their own sales reps appologied to me for the delay and lack of information provided.

As i was typing i just got a phone call staying EVGA Hydros arrived and I have changed my order back to EVGA again!

Hi, which of the EVGA 980 Ti card variant have the most potential for overclocking? Classified or the Hybrid? Tired of waiting, was thinking of grabbing the Classified and get it custom water cooling solution & overclock to the max. Suggestions please.

Get the Hybrid. It is on backorder on newegg.com.
As for overclocking, it will depend on what ASIC you get. Only Kingpin cards have confirmed ASIC. Everything else is up in the air. I know people with Hybrid who got 60 ASIC and I know people with Classified who got 60 ASIC.

On a custom loop, Classified FOR SURE. You'll get a decent OC with the Hybrid, though, not that much lower than the Classy on water.

Is classifieds only for people who want it under water? Or can I get away using the ACX cooler it comes with and still give it a hefty OC, like will it not get too hot?

I am a lil worried if I got 2 classyz and ran s good OC on it 24/7, especially since summer is coming up in Australia and my room gets particularly hot and there is no AC. Worried that the classyz will throttle with a good OC and under those conditions, Or am I wrong?

Classifieds are made for water. You'll get a decent factory OC that's above the advertised clock but terribly much more than that as the card will already be at its thermal limit. Be prepared for jet engine noises, however.

EDIT: Just saw your edit. The custom PCB of the Classies, especially with two of them, will produce substantial heat, and without AC, will actually throttle your card more than otherwise.

The only way I got mine was having the messages pushed to my phone. That way I actually got to the site before they were selling. Had to refresh a couple times to order.

I guess I should really go with Hybrids then?

Simply put, if you want any sort of OC and temperature is an issue, then yes.

Ok guess Im going to cancel my Classy orders and stick to Hybrid, whenever they are avaiable.

That's your choice. If they're on the way, I might stay with them. The factory OC is good enough and who knows when youll be able to snag some Hybrids. I was speaking ideally.

Well I would only want to get a classy if I could OC it to atleast ~1450-1500 on air if the thermals would be ok especially in summer around the corner here and in my hot room. But if it was going to throttle or if I have to keep it at the stock factory settings than I may aswell get an MSI Gaming or other brand and clock it to the stock classy levels as surely most could handle that, there would be no real reason to hold out for classy in that case rite?

Yeah, I think 1400 is pushing it on 2 Classies on air, IMO. You'll probably hit that on the Hybrids, though, if you get lucky.

My classified can do 1480/8200 or 1524/7800 in single card. Most will do 1450 on air with ease with temperatures around 68-72 C.

That's awesome. However, we're talking about 2 Classies and a summer room without A/C.

2 classifieds on stock would boost to 1380 on the core and run at 79 C a pop. Put a side panel fan to drop temps to about 75 c.

Like I said, 1400 would be a stretch, and whatever clock you get will come with some serious heat. Unless you're happy with the ~1320MHz with minimal heat...

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti! 2015/07/31 12:38:49 (permalink)
I'm gonna be contacting support but right now I'm so p.o'ed it's not even funny.  Just received my 980 ti step-up that I've waited weeks for and the shipping box is absolutely smashed and then open it up to find the 980ti box just smashed as well.  Something large and heavy was dropped on this and I'm scared to even open it to see the card.  I can't believe how UPS treats people's possessions.  Totally uncalled for.

I am running two cards in SLi at 1450/7700 for daily use and get temperature of 70 c top and 65 c bottom card in most games except Witcher 3 and GTA V that run at 75 c and 70 c. This is on air cooling and noise is less than my 970 g1 gaming SLi and temperature are about 3 C lower.

I will be able to post results once I get my second classified but it should run cooler than my SC+ due to bigger fans and surface area.

Is it reasonable/feasible to buy a classified and then put a hybrid cooler on it?

I don't think you can, hybrid is for reference PCB, classyz are non-reference.
