Max temp at benchmarking is 65°C. The Same like The fury x from AMD. In gaming something around 50℃. 2 friends of mine got the same card, Both are quite happy.

nicholas.weeks- since it pains you so much to see your newly-built PC running on integrated graphics, why not just get a regular 980 Ti now and then get the hybrid kit when those get re-stocked? Not an ideal solution for you I get it, but at least that way you will have the GPU. I agree overall though, this release was planned poorly. Same thing with Apple, I still can't walk into an Apple store and walk out with a Macbook after all these months (even though I don't want one, just saying, it's the same thing and equally ridiculous).

That would be too easy for him, Plus, he's only here to complain about EVGA not having items in stock.
While, I don't like whiners, he does prove a point that EVGA should produce more cards, especially if they see a high demand. BUt I don't think he gets the concept that there are more people that are demanding this card than the amount of cards that EVGA can produce (supply and demand and can be a hard subject to understand...) YOu can only produce so many. Then you have to test them. Then you have to put them on a boat (a boat...? yes) then you have to ship them. perhaps the guys over in California screwed you all and are protesting because they're not making enough money. You don't know what the deal is. And do you think that EVGA is going to make excuses why they don't have any in stock?
 Anything could happen...

Actually buying the hybrid kit and doing it myself would be the most ideal for me. But financially it is irresponsible.
I love tinkering with computers. I'm quite the enthusiast. I just put two CPU coolers into two machines this summer because it is fun. However, the moment I pop a screw on that new video card to put on the hybrid kit I am voiding the warranty of the card. And while it would be quite a bit better to replace whatever crappy thermal paste they put on with some arctic silver it is financially irresponsible to break a $600+ warranty. So again not really an option.

Stalin what you seem to be missing is that I don't care when I get the card. Only that I have to sign up again, and again for their notification system rather than just saying hey man there is a line but we'll get it to you. I don't expect the day Nvidia releases the chip they will have boatloads of cards. That would be stupid on their part especially if the chip was a dud. But they could take orders. It could even help give them an idea of how much demand there was for the product and eliminate free market scalpers like the guy on ebay.

In the same vein why are you so bent on defending them? Maybe their corporate bosses just don't flipping like you and are keeping boxes of them sitting there to frustrate people like me so I come onto this forum and argue with you. Maybe their employees are on the left side of a retarded sugar cone short bus and just suck at what they do? I'm not saying they do. I'm sure they are good people trying to get by like the rest of us. But how does their motives or the complexity of the delivery model have absolutely anything to do with my opinion that the process could be improved in this particular way?

Just curious but if you had the ability to order the product right now and get a notification when it was shipped would you do it?

No- it will NOT void the warranty. That's why EVGA rocks. I know firsthand because I called EVGA with a potential stripped screw issue I had with the GPU. Tinker away, as long as the card itself is not damaged the warranty remains intact. Also I left the stock thermal compound on my hybrid cooler and it works perfectly fine. I've since added a backplate and it raised my temps by 2-3 degrees. Under load my max temp is 50 degrees (prior to backplate it was 47).

While I wholeheartedly hope this is true I have serious doubts that they would allow that given the sensitivity of the equipment.
Do you have a source for your claim?

If that information can be vetted that is exactly what I would do.

See this thread, a tech at EVGA confirmed it. http://forums.evga.com/Will-installing-the-official-EVGA-hybrid-kit-void-the-warranty-on-a-stock-GTX-980TI-card-m2370800.aspx

As I said, I also called EVGA and specifically asked about this when I encountered my screw issue. If there is any doubt, give EVGA a call and ask.

EDIT- see also this link, which is the hybrid kit manual. As long as you keep the original screws and reference card parts, the warranty remains intact. Look at Step 1: http://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/980_Ti_HYBRID_Installation_Guide.pdf

That is awesome. But I still need to see it in real legal print.
One of their technicians online saying that is awesome but unfortunately just making a claim doesn't make it fact. They will undoubtedly have that policy in print somewhere. It is just not worth any risk to that warranty.

This says to refer to the 980 ti warranty and that there is a warranty on the hybrid cooler not the card.
The 980 ti warranty is going to say any modification will void it.

But after reading that again I am pretty sure even with the legal gray area there they would probably honor that.

Hold your horses folks we might have a solution.

It is in bold font in the product manual if you take a look at Step 1. The kit is specifically made to replace the reference cooler on the reference style cards. Also IMO any statements from the mods and techs at EVGA on here can be taken seriously. And lastly, I'm telling you I was told this when I called. Call them and ask it will take 5 minutes. Not trying to be a jerk, I can't explain this in any other way- it does not void the warranty. If you are skeptical don't buy and hold out for the actual hybrid card.

Well thank you for your help. I will do some research on it and make a decision. I really appreciate you pointing this out to me.

I bought the rest, 102 in total (2 from each state + 2 from DC). Crazy how fast they go! Curious how many orders EVGA gets in those few minutes.
