Hello,

I haven't overclocked gpu's in the past, kind of new to this also.

I have had this card for over a month and wanted to see what it could do on stock voltage.  I added +52 on the gpu in precision and +100 on the memory, voltage is left at stock 1.175v.  I ran fire strike (10+) and Heaven and played a few games, and experienced no issues until I added +65 on the core and it crashed halfway through Heaven (1215mhz).  The max gpu clock at +52 was 1202mhz, not sure if its decent or good/bad.
Now if I wanted to go +65 to 100 on gpu core what would be my next step, is it safe to add voltage in Precision to 1.21v?  If it requires adding voltage past 1.21 and custom bios to get extra 100mhz over the factory overclcok with my card, then I guess I'm going to stick with 1200mhz for safety.  I'm too inexperienced to be flashing custom bios, plus this is only air cooled and no plans for custom loop.

Also about the LN2 BIOS, is it safe to switch and use that instead?  It supposedly increases power target to 115%, would that help a bit in anyway?

Is 1.21v safe for daily gaming, running some benchamrks here and there?

Here's a screenshot of Precision X with the settings I'm running now and it seems stable.  Heaven peaks at about 74C.

Hi, I would head over here.  There is a TON of information available to help you.  You can use precision to setup a fan profile to help keep temperatures down, if you haven't already done so.  Yes, 1.21v is fine.

Yes, I set-up a slightly more aggressive fan profile.  Do you know if its safe to switch to the LN2 bios (secondary bios)?  Also I can't seem to adjust voltage through Precision, it doesn't do nothing, I tried adding extra 25mv and it stays at stock 1.175v, not sure why.

It is perfectly fine, even on air, to switch to the LN2 Bios. For it to be useful, you will need a modified bios, from EVGA or a third party, to get the best out of your card. Currently, your card and ln2 bios are probably limited an extreme amount. The updated bios will allow you to click, hit yet twice, and the card will be flashed, as long as you go through EVGA. I currently use the evga modified bios and it works phenomenal for most everything I use it for.

Definitely head over to Overclock.net and look up the 780 Classified forums, and you will find hundreds of helpful people ready to get you well on your way to overclocking smoothly.

Any questions you have, eel free to ask as well. I love my classies and enjoy helping others.

First thing you need to know, the voltage displayed in ANY software is incorrect. You NEED to purchase a probe it connector for your card, and a digital multimeter. This will save you much heartache and time. Software can not properly read the voltage, and will not read over 1.175 usually, making users think their voltage isn't taking. When the user thinks the voltage isn't taking, they usually dump more voltage as a beginner. This is detrimental to the card, so ignore software read outs, and pay the $10 for the probe it and $25 for the multimeter.

I switched to LN2 secondary bios, extra 5% increase in power delivery, I also noticed that "stock" fan profile is lowered, the card at idle the fan spins only at 29% as opposed to 35% in the normal bios.
I might just give up and stay at 1202mhz which is pretty fast for me, as I do not want to mess with different bios', and do not want to exceed the 1.21v threshold, since I'm only on Air, and if something happened to the card, I'm out 730 bucks and no card, and wouldn't be able to afford another one.  As always thanks for the help.

Oh, and I have a multimeter somewhere, I could dig it out, but I wouldn't even know how to measure the voltage on the card itself.

You dont need experience to flash bios... Just email chrisb@evga.com and ask for the updated bios and add your serial number.

Wait a few days and if there is no reply, call evga and they should give you the updated bios right then and there if chris is available.

It will be a link to a download and it will do all the work for you.
