I must say that I really love this case, but it did have a fatal flaw for me. The power supply sounded like an airplane turbine taking off while gaming, I tried 2 cases and both had the same problem.

Luckily I found the fix for it, and did a noctua plus kaze scyte fan replacement on the power supply and it works really great. Still I can't help to wonder what will happen if it ever fails 2-3 years from now, will I be able to get a replacement?

I'm guessing my warranty is voided (which is disappointing considering the huge flaw on the psu fan), so my alternative would be using an sfx psu, but I would rather use an official evga psu, preferably a revised version of the current psu ;)

I use a SFX PSU on my Hadron, I gave up on the 1U original EVGA psu... I had to put the sfx psu where the drive cage was innitialy, and my SSD now sits inside the case on the back side of it, glued there with double-side tape. Not the most elegant solution, but works fine, and it's visually acceptable. The only concern I have to address is the original PSU hole that's open in the case now, but you can get a piece of metal, paint it and get it in there, with a 3-pin power outlet on it...
SFX psu from SilverStone comes in 450-600W (max for now), modular, and they are really silent... oh and also 80+ Gold too. I don't know for sure, but I think they are cheaper than a decent 1U PSU.

note: you can see a little damage I did in the PSU, but it's my fault, it came to me well packed.

I don't know who produce Hadron PSU. I like Hadron Hydro and Hadron Air very much.
I saw on Enermax site they offer up to 600W 1U, but probably only as option for partners if someone need big quantity, 100-500-1.000.

    http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_1&lv0=48&lv1=73&no=258

It's really hard to find similar PSU 600W example.
    Seasonic make same 500W Gold.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151129

There are different models and thickness of 40mm fans, most of them are loud.
Because PSU inside probably work very often with full power.
For GTX970 and GTX980 no problems, and EVGA tested even cards with bigger power consumption.

Supermicro make one model PWS-601-1H, 600W but cost arround 150$.
    Looks like it's Gold.

You say little damage on PSU...
Looks like fall from 2nd floor...

Lol yeah you are right.... (about damage...)
    About replacement 1U PSU's, here's some 700W ones:

I may be wrong, but I saw an Hadron PSU review stating that it may be produced by FSP... Can't recall now...

If someone really want to look everything nice should leave one month everything on default and if PSU continue to work to sleeve cables and to make shorter cables in some service for electronic and to replace fan if default is loud. Reference cards are best for Hadron.

This Supermicro 600W is better than FSP 700...
Look it's 600W Gold with 50A and single 12V rail.

    http://www.wiredzone.com/supermicro-racks-kvm-chassis-power-server-power-supplies-500w-to-980w-pws-601-1h-10020416

I didn't found better model for Hadron than that. Really no reason to go on 700W, better 600W Gold, anyway customers use most SSD inside and
i5 - i7 with small power consumption. I mean FSP made good PSU, but they didn't probably pay attention on that standard and I think maybe in future demand become bigger.

My hadron PSU only ever made noise at startup with a 3 second burst at full RPM's
    After that it was silent.

No longer have the case, but do have the psu.

You should keep that PSU, maybe someone want to buy PSU from you later if his die.

Thanks for the replies and I took quite a while to answer lol
Yeah, it seems a different power supply will be the route to take once it's time to replace this one, which luckily works so much quieter with the noctua+kaze combination.
I think I could fit a sfx psu where the current one is without much trouble due to the modification I have done on the case. Haven't taken any measurements of the space left but I'm hopeful.

Here is what I have done btw:

A buddy bought a Hadron and I love the idea of fitting something ridiculous in it, but that PSU is far too damn loud! Rather get the Ncase m1, smaller overall footprint, better PSU options, but costs more to import into Canada.

The N1 is a bit expensive as well and doesn't come with a psu or isn't as "nice looking" imo.

If you are willing to spend an extra 20 bucks, you can replace the psu fan with a noctua 40x10mm + scyte kaze mini 40mm and it will shut up the psu for good.

Flip the gpu like I did and you will have enough space to fit a sfx psu where the current psu is.

What's the warranty of the PSU? Where do you get a replacement in case it fails out of warranty?

I think warranty for PSU is same as for Hadron case, I mean warranty period.
But probably is possible to buy and only PSU later... Or to ask EVGA or to search over net...
I saw on this link, they say Available, but I don't know price and probably some other stores sell.

    http://www.wired2fire.co.uk/evga-hadron-1u-500w-power-supply-gold-80-plus-rated.html

It's very hard to find PSU of same type with good performance, in Black color probably impossible.
Some manufacturer offer but probably only if someone want to buy 100+ maybe and build some RIGs of them, not as normal offer.
And over 500W is again very hard to find.

Apparently the Hadron's PSU is a rebadged FSP500-501UN. Like erick.mendez said, it is an FSP.
It should be noted however that 1u power supplys, although come in many different wattages, do not have a consistent length. Some will be far too long to fit into the Hadron, so check dimensions first.

Secondly, since they are designed to be server power supplies, the fans will be stupidly loud. You can do the Scythe/Noctua mod, but that's at your own risk. You WILL be cutting airflow and your PSU will get hotter.

That size is biggest 500W for Gold Standard.
They have 600 and 700W 1U Platinum but maybe little longer.

Someone put a guide together here:  ( requires some electrical skill )
More tips someone put together! ( Also where I found the link )

    Edit 1:
EVGA forums filter out links to external sites... I wonder why!?
Google search "EVGA Hadron Air Chassis - Tips & Compatibility Guide" and you'll find an article from overclock.net - find the section that talks about the PSU fan.

Do at your own risk but it is quite simple. Keep in mind you are most certainly voiding the warranty on the PSU, and if something goes wrong you will have no one to blame.

    Things to note:
    • The Scythe + Noctua mod does not fit 100%, and there is leftover space. If you look at the Hadron PSU you can tell the sides of the PSU are open air where the fan is, so unless you make a shroud out of paper or duct tape you're going to introduce dust into your system.
    • The fan itself is connected with a 2-pin fan header instead of a 3-pin fan header. Not a huge problem.
    • When I tore apart the PSU I thought I could desolder where the fan connects to the board, or (best case) replace the plug that it mounts into... no dice. The PCB is crammed and you'll have a hard time trying to desolder as it IS soldered down to the board, which led me to this solution:

    1. Take apart PSU, unscrew fan from case

    2. Cut (as in physically cut with scissors) the two wires from the fan. You should leave some slack but not too much. Slide some heatshrink tubing on both cables.

    3. Solder the red and black wires from your fan(s) to the red and black wires from what previously was the PSU fan.

    4. Wrap cables in electrical tape and then heat the tubing so it compresses (we don't want your fans shorting out.)

Bam, done. Easy job but if you don't know how to operate a soldering iron I wouldn't suggest learning with this specific instance let alone tearing a part a high current power supply.

I did the noctua plus scythe mod and I didn't have any issue with anything being loose.
I recommend using a fan Y-splitter so that you can power both fans from the same psu connection, the little things that came with the noctua to "solder" the wires together without actually soldering them was quite handy.
