I have a problem. I bought 2 SLI ACX 2.0 (non-sc) editions. I install them find out I'm having tons of problems. Long story short after about 2 weeks of trouble shooting I find my motherboard is shot. I replaced the PSU for no reason. I can't use SLI configs in PCI-E slots 1 or 4. So I'm stuck putting the cards directly right on top of each other. That means the top card gets insanely hot- I'm talking like 85C+ during intense gaming situations at stock speeds (I haven't even tried to overclock yet). The bottom card is like 60C.

Anything I can do to cool my setup down? There is no point in replacing my motherboard at this point because I have a Sandybridge and Skylake is right around the corner.

you state Slot 1 or 4, but did you try slot 3, so that they aren't on top of each other?

It would help to know the motherboard and CPU as well.  Are you using slot 1 and 2, or 1 and 3 currently?  When I had one insanely hot over the other, I switched the cards, and they evened out, but I think that was a specific case.  Either way, give it a try, put the hot card on the bottom and the cold card up top to see how they react.

Indeed very disappointing behaviour from Evga on this matter. I only wish they are aware of the huge money they're not making by letting people buy other brands while they get bored waiting for the card to be available.

You simply cannot design so a sexy card and don't let anyone buy it.

IT'S NOT WORKING!!!!

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti! 2015/07/24 01:13:38 (permalink)
Hi Guys,
Matt from New Zealand here.

Right so here is my sad sad story on this subject.

So back in early June I see the EVGA 980 ti Hybrid and I think damn what a sweet card.
I think on it, read reviews, get all excited about and finally I hand over $1450 NZD on the 29th of June (yes thats how much they cost down here) to a retailer.
Their website said that they would be getting their cards on the 22nd of July. I was told you had to pre-order to get a card as they would be flying out the door and we are only getting like 40 cards in the country in the first batch.

So 22nd of July comes around and hmmm no email from my retailer. So I contact them and they say they are in the dark about it, but will find out.
They get back to me and say that no dice on the Hybrid but I can get one that has been in a gaming rig as a demo at the wholesalers for 3 weeks.
I was like sure I will have it, if there is some sort of discount. They get back to me a day later and say nah no discount and sorry the card is already gone as someone else said they would have it.

I had no idea there were MASSSSIVE production problems with these cards (only just found this thread with all its info today) or I would have said YUP I WILL HAVE THAT DEMO CARD RIGHT NOW THANK YOU!.. ahhhh..god damn it..

So the question is why the hell does EVGA basically tease us with a release back in early June and then have no bloody cards expect cards for reviewers for TWO months. So god damn lame..

In the 980 ti Hybrid thread on these forums, a mod mentioned that the production line for the Hybrids was small, so they can only accomodate for small batches but they also have plans to increase the size of the production line for the Hybrids to increase the batch size and hence availability in late/early July/Ausgust.

So they didn't think that the Hybrid would be that popular. Guessing everyone saw Jay2cents overclock it to 1500mhz and it was only at 48 Degrees and when right pre-order go.

If you really want the best, why not go for KPE? They all can hit ~atleast 1530 @ 2200 and according to vince some will hit 1600

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti! 2015/07/24 03:13:51 (permalink)
a new GTX-980-Ti arrived today.

i have GTX EVGA 770 card installed now and  that the 980Ti will be replacing.

is it preferable to remove any drivers for the EVGA-770 prior to removing the card and then installing the new 980-Ti?

edit;
i actually opened the box tonite and actually read the little booklet. i get it, i'm to uninstall the nvidia 770 drivers first then shutdown and install card, then drivers.

lazy on my part to post prior but sometimes there are gotchas like driver versions on accompanying cd's, etc.

my apologies for that.

Got the evga sc+ acx card with a 68.7% ASIC. Lost the lottery for a third time. Hits 1510/7800 on motivan 1.23 bios. Reaches 80 C temps with default fan curve. Going to try now with SLI with my classified. If I can get them to 1450/7500 game stable daily use with decent noise and temperatures, I will be satisfied.

You should use same Classified if you want SLI and if you have one GTX980Ti Classified.
They will work better on same clock.

I am seeing if I can get motivan to do a similar bios as he did for acx sc version. That way I can sync them easily. Couldn't get my hands on another classified so ordered this. Also this was 60 bucks cheaper shipped to my country.

well, i was about to one-click on Amazon a few days ago, and bam, it showed "out of stock" as did newegg, then i checked back on EVGA site and it was listed "out of stock" when i added to my cart. so i put my email in for notification when it's back in stock. EVGA notified me it was back in stock so i clicked to buy and it didn't display out of stock. took only a few days to get here. this all happened in less than a week.

note for anyone: amazon charged way more than shipping & taxes than did EVGA. and i have prime with amazon so i don't know whats up with amazon. just my experience with this card.

lucky this time

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti! 2015/07/25 07:30:27 (permalink)
I am benchmark stable at 1480/7800 on both cards. I managed to de-link them and keep them at that level. My 3dmark results are as follows:

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5501833 25692 Firestrike
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5501866 15847 Firestrike Extreme
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5502725 8633 Firestrike Ultra

I am pretty sure if I run this on Windows 8.1 I will add about 200-300 points to my scores as has been my experience in the past.
I have to modify the fan curve to run this speed. The fans can get terribly noisy but the temperatures remained 75 C top card and 68 C bottom card.
For gaming ofcourse, I did not want to make my computer sound like a tornado so I put default fan curves of both cards and 1450/7700. This nets me much higher temperatures at about 83 C top card and 81 C bottom card. However, the noise is about as much or slightly lower than my 970 SLi with Gigabyte.
I played Witcher 3 for a bit at 4K. Every possible setting turned to maximum settings and it was pegged to 60 fps (without vsync) to a monkey's bottom. I can't ask for more. It was a bit jarring to play at 4K w/ all sorts of AA thrown in. Image was too sharp. However, I loved it. I really wish someone would make a faster refresh monitor at 4K. I will buy it in a heart beat. I can't wait for the 3440*1440 21:9 at 75/100 Hz that I have been hearing.
Overall, I am finally at peace with these cards. I do believe that for such hot running cards, 1450/7700 is a damn good setup with audible yet tolerable noise. Since I wear headphones, I don't hear a damn thing anyways even with volume at 40%.

Any news on the availability of the GTX 980 Ti Hybrid? Its been awhile since the last time I saw it on stock! Also, will it ever land on Amazon.com? EVGA's national card policy is kind of killing me right now.

Ohh man. I have been waiting for it for almost a week since I actually preordered it on scan.co.uk. They (yet again) posponed the preorder till 4th Aug from 30th Jul just today. They say the queue is 45 orders long. Really getting pissed off here. I understand they have production problems, but from what I understand its a damn reference PCB with a minor OC and a custom Cooler. You do not need 2 months to slap on a custom cooler and still come up out of stock. :? EVGA my system is waiting. :'( EVGA GabeN is WAITING. THE MASTERRACE IS WAITING!! EEE VEE GEE AYYY!! Are you listening?

its obvious evga is trying to create demand for some of their cards which is pointless as the demand is already there.  the 980ti hybrid has been oos every since its release.  The auto-notify feature, is useless as it only sends an email out after the 5 cards they made available sell out.  The only thing this is doing is pissing people off to go and buy a competitors card.

We should be told by an EVGA rep if we have long to wait, or not to bother because there won't be enough units soon enough.

Some sort of update would be nice.

yep me too.

Pre-order 2 x 980ti Hydro Copper @ £1500 (approx $3000) worth GPUs, - 4 weeks later nothing.
Still no ETA, kinda of given up now.

Then i see this 'arseh***' selling the same card for double on Ebay (he has already sold 6 and 4 remaining)

EVGA sort out your stock control - why do i bother EVGA is like this on every release

Well Jacob said late this week early next week some units should fly around. Not sure if retailers are getting them.

At this rate by the time I see my Hybrids, Pascal will be around the corner.

@narrn001

I have told 'Overclockers.co.uk' the retailer whom, I placed my order with (only retailer in UK actually taking pre-orders) to cancel if do arrive by end of this month. (I know its not their fault - i regularly buy my tech from them).

Overclockers told me today that they are expecting an EVGA delivery this Friday 31st - but that was the same last week and the week before  etc... so the Sales chap told me not to count on it and understood if i wanted to cancel.

Plan B - Go ASUS and drop an EKWB FC waterblock then to overclocking myself. (probably should executed this plan weeks ago!)

No tech is worth waiting that long, will be out of date by the time i receive it and install it. - very disappointed.

PS: I don't believe anything EVGA/(Jacob) tells me anymore.

Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti! 2015/07/29 01:56:37 (permalink)
Fark if I wasn't spending alot of money buying a car in the next 2 weeks, I would just cancel my hybrid pre-order and go custom water setup with blocks on 980 Ti's.

Just be told 5th August is the date EU shipment delivery to retailers then up 5 days before customers receive them. (whether you believe or not its up to you)

Plan B actioned: - Ordered 2 x ASUS 980ti Reference and EKWB Blocks (deliverey scheduled for tomorrow!) - WOW & thats how its done. (take note EVGA)

Original PC Spec: EVGA X99 | 32Gb RAM | 2 x 980ti Hydro
Actual PC Spec: ASUS RE5 X99 | 32Gb RAM | 2 x 980ti ASUS / EKWB

EVGA just lost £2K sales to ASUS from me. I have given my money to ASUS and EKWB
Bye Bye everyone - i will longer need to sit here and wait / posting comments on forums moaning about my delayed GPUs
Hope you all get your GPU soon.
