Hello,
I've acquired the EVGA x99 FTW for the purpose of trying to get up 128GB of memory without heading to the next level of a workstation/server MB. I bought G.Skill Ripjaws 4 (8x16GB) DDR4 RAM, speed is 2400Hz, 1.2V, CAS 14, unregistered, non-ecc. I know each stick of memory works, because I've used each one in the 1 dimm slot, one at a time, for which I could consistently run the computer fine. In fact, I can consistently run the computer with up to 7 sticks of memory in the machine. Once I use all 8 dimm slots is where I start to run into problems. At first, it works beautifully and I get a full 128 GB of memory, my goal has been met! But on reboots I will not get a consistent run at full memory capacity. Sometimes one or two of the slots will show up as 8GB instead of the 16GB stick that it is. At other times I can't even get the MB to post and I get stuck on the error code B7 (Memory training) . When I get the B7 error, no amount of restarts will fix the issue, but I can still fix it, all I have to do is switch the bios (BIOS v1.09). Now, I've tried to set the frequency in the UEFI to 2400Hz and the voltages to 1.200V manually. But that hasn't really affected the inconsistency. I don't know if anyone else has had any issue with this or not. But I'd like to get a full consistent 128GB system if possible.
