I could use some advice for my pump reservoir combo. I really like the way this first unit looks but like the added pump speed of the second. Which one would you choose? I have alreay decided to go with 1/2" ID hoses. My CPU block and radiator is pictured below. Thanks.

Personally I would go with the Swiftech, while I am a fan of the D5 based pumps and they have been steadfast for me for many years, I cannot argue the fact that the MCP50X just outperforms it in nearly every area, really is a top notch pump.

Thanks, Dave. The Swiftech it is. I think it's a much better looking unit. I will eventually be cooling my video boards too but not quite yet with the EK blocks having a price of $139.99 each.

If it's a highly restrictive loop then I'd go with the MCP50X pump. In a more typical low to medium restriction loop, I would go with a D5 as long as space or cost is not a deciding factor.

Why I go with this unit now because I can fill it without pulling out of the drive cage. Most Fill Ports are on TOP.

I am going to go with the Swiftech reservoir with built in pump for looks and pricing considerations. Thanks for all of your input. This is still a work in progress as I only have the radiator and CPU block on hand right now. I can still make some changes as the suggestions roll in.

My only complaint with the bay reservoirs are the space since they take up 2 slots and the fill port is on top which can be a pia. I started with one of those and it worked very well, but the inline reservoirs are easier to fill and for maintenance imo. That is a nice one you picked though and should work very well for you.

I don't really have room in my case to properly mount an inline reservoir as much as I'd like to have one. I'll have to try and tuck some extra hose length in there somewhere so I can slide it out to refill it now and then. I should probably put some thought into a T-fitting too so I can drain it without turning my PC case upside down. lol

Yeah, a T line at the bottom will do the trick, and you can run a plug, valve or QD for the bottom.  For the top, what I do is put a fill port on the top of my case, then tube it to the top of the res, it did the trick for me.  Some cases are more of a challenge than others though.

As much as I've liked all of my Cooler Master cases, Scout, Sniper and Stryker, this one looks to be difficult due to the handle being riveted in the dead center. I'm still a ways off but when I get around to doing anything I might be able to move my CD/DVD to the third bay from the top and put the reservoir in the top two bays. I need to see how much clearance I have with the radiator fittings.

I guess I just plop this silver coil in the reservoir, right?

OK, thanks. I'm liking the reservoir for that.

    or this

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind but I already have the silver coil. I am going to use straight distilled water instead of coolant.

Yeah the PT nuke works well with distilled water; don't ever mix that with a silver coil though. Either one will do just fine in the loop. Also, I check the PH with test strips to keep it between 6.5 -8.5. If it's out of range, I add a couple of drops of the PT nuke. Just check the Ph level every now and again and it'll be fine.
