Hi folks,
Currently playing TW3 on my GTX 750. It's an SC Evga version, and I have not tinkered with it in any way. Get around bout 35-40fps on Low preset, 1080p.
My GPU usage is pretty much at 99% all the time (except when I go into the menus for example) cause I never ever reach the frame cap of 60fps.
Now, my question is, when I monitor my clock speeds, temp etc with Nvidia Inspector, it seems like the GPU doesn't sustain its boost clock rate at all times. What can be noted is that whenever I enter the inventory menu or map menu, and exit, as the temperature has dropped slightly the clock speed will go back max to 1359.
Also, one thing I have noticed is that my GPU temp NEVER breaches 80C...it stops at 80C and 63% fan speed.
Is there any chance the boost rate is connected to the temps? Is 80C an internal limit? Not that it matters much, but I do feel that for example at the max boost speed of 1359MHz and a slower speed such as 1280MHz, there is a difference of a few frame rates.
Assume I clean out my card (I know, it's a sin, dust and all that), and my temps go lower, would it be possible to maintain a boost clock all throughout? Or is the temp/fan-speed not related to the boost clock at all? In which case, what determines the clock speed? (Note: Game is such that my GPU is at 99% all the time basically, so that shouldn't be an issue)
Thanks!
Edit: Also, is there any major danger if the temperature is sustained at 80C for prolonger gaming sessions? Will it make the card die very much faster, or is it still acceptable?
