In my personal opinion this acquisition would be a good one for Qualcomm.

If Qualcomm kept the 86's cpus, I could see his being a good thing. But could also see this going bad for the end user too.

Qualcomm should spend more time fixing their Killer Network Manager software.

Now if situation become not so nice as AMD try to present they will try to hide that with new rumors about
    Qualcomm, Samsung, etc...
I will not believe to AMD even if they present better cards because so many times they talk about new Messiah and TITAN Killer and everything else and than when the dust settles they are not even able to drop price of GeForce.

Not Likely. Due to anti-competition laws in the EU and other countries they would have to allow it.

AMD just needs to let someone else in the big seats or just sell already, current administration just doesn't have the heart, or too many educated dummies in administration, and you can't tell me AMD isn't making enough cash to stay afloat because that's just a load of crap....

There would so many competition law suits over any such merger that I can guarantee qualcomm would be bankrupted to even attempt it.

Even US law would prevent it under Rico etc

no VIA still retains the x86 license as well, Intel wouldn't be the only game in town.

What we really need though is someone with a big R&D budget to get an x86 license or to buy 49% of AMD and fund AMD.

No, what we need is focus on needs: A PC gamer ultimately wants MDS (Max detail smooth) at all resolutions; if some combination of hardware and software can make that possible for decent price, then nothing else matters.  So far, only PCs do it by forcing upgrades every so often; what if that isn't the only way?  The only reason anyone slams consoles is because the specs are low, and thus the inability to upgrade is the secondary complaint.  What if the specs were higher and game developers were responsible for driver improvements, rather than nVidia or AMD, since the hardware isn't changing?  It would be like a DX12-level event every couple of years; same hardware and more performance.  We've been put through this cycle, this itch to upgrade, consumerism-- if a higher-end spec console allowed MDS, few would rally against that.

The more I think about it, I think Microsoft (and SONY) are in better positions to buy AMD than any others; all others are interested in AMD's ARM contingencies and their GPU departments, but MS has an x86-based APU console and can make the most use of all AMD has to offer.  I'm talking about experience and qualifications of an already existing infrastructure.

In my mind, two consoles should exist: 1) A cheap platform for whatever MS/SONY uses XB1/PS4 for and 2) a higher-end platform to act as a successor to the modern ATX PC that runs an embedded copy of their supposed last Windows version and all x86-based software and Windows games have priority.  Except rather than making that software compatible with all types of hardware, make them tailored for a specific number of MS- or SONY-certified components, since they would be in charge of former-AMD's CPU, APU, GPU lineups.  This higher-end console can be a $1000-1500 unit, but as PC gaming successor platform, should be able to do 2160p60 through its lifespan.

I think this plan may already be in place, that the next generation of consoles by both SONY and MS will be the last ones, and Microsoft's version will be a PC replacer with Windows.

I actually agree with Microsoft or Sony, more so with MS buying AMD, but someway still get the 86 rights. In my opinion, Sony isn't in much better shape as AMD. AMD isn't as bad off as most want-a-be geeks/nerds think they are, just need some great administration, that knows how to handle dummy shareholders.

Everybody is buying AMD. Hell, I might be buying AMD.

    OR nobody is buying them

"And I still believe that CEO Lisa Su does not want to sell off the company if she can avoid it. AMD has a hot new microarchitecture, called Zen, in the works for release next year and it's already generating excitement based on a few leaks. For now it's a hang on game for AMD and I think they want compete on their own."

If anyone was to purchase AMD, I just hope they have enough sense to separate the 2 divisions, so they can work separately and produce competitive CPU and GPU. I really want to make a rival to my 5960x/980ti build.
