I just got my 980 classified yesterday and when playing watch dogs and far cry 4 it is flawless
not a single issue,
but when i play older games(COD modern warfare 2,3 and 4) tom clancy ghost recon 1 and 2 the picture goes black then comes back after a few seconds?
it is really a problem since i do like the older games.
My 780ti never did this on the same games?
I have driver 353.30 installed.
UPDATE: even reverting back to 347.88 and earlier still have problems on older games?

Spoke to soon, was fine then after about 1 hour it started doing it again but not as often?
wonder if it is something other than a driver issue?
I wanted to make sure it was not something with the COD releases so i played advanced warefare and ghost for a while ech and they dont do it at all?
so it seems to be only older pre 2010 games?
rainbow six vegas 1 and 2 also have this probem?

Still having issues with older games despite reverting to old drivers?
    I tried 347.88,347.50 and 347.25
Pretty sure this is NOT driver related and it is not my classified because newer titles play flawless?
Patch dogs used to alway give me issues but with the classified i have not had a single issue so if it plays that game it is not the card! LOL

350.12 have always been my go to (or, go back to) choice for problem solving / SLI anyway. However, I tend to think your problems may lay elsewhere also. Anyway, good luck and enjoy your new Beasty!

Try running the game with power target down low just to test and or try with vsync on to help reduce load old games some times run very high fps and can stress cards more than what was intended.

I can't say about the Tom Clancy games but the Modern Warfare games used to have ungodly frame rates. Try setting the ingame options to vsync 'on' and see how it works or use the frame limiter to 60 or 120.

my problem is not FPS it is these black screens?
The game will play for a bit then the screen goes black and wont respond.
then i have to use the windows Home button and try to reset it that way.
never had this issue before on these same games.
My 780ti played these same games fine?
I dont think it is the 980 since it does play all the newer titles great, not a single issue
I get great FPS with graphics maxed

I did forget to mention that on these older games i use pinnacle game profiler
    for a 360 xbox controller
Since the older titles do not support gamepads i use the profiler for them, could this be causing the issue of black screens?

yeah i am convinced the issue i am having is NOT driver related.
I would get black screens on all my games but it is mostly  the older ones.

the  older games in question are on steam but battlefield 4 is origin
    and i play offline.
Battlefield 4 went 2 hours straight before i got that direct x error and the black screen
so i was surprised to see that happen?

No it does it on call of duty modern warefare 2,3 and 4 as well as ghost recon 1+2.
and also now on battlefield 4 but on battlefield it does not do it as often.
so far i only had the one direct x error on battlefield 4.
seems to be a LOT worse on the older titles

Only in battlefield i got a direct X error one time
but those other games constantly have black screen issues.
And to clarify when the games go black screen there is still sound just no picture?
