Never. I would bought from every series one card but country and financial situation is not best.
Why not. Example two RIGs, one mATX and one EATX. In mATX RIG I would use card from first generation and in main RIG premium high end models from second generation with 250-260W power consumption.

KPE = waste of money.

Pretty card though usually, but not worth it as others have said in the thread.

And again, ASIC quality has nothing to do with a card's OC potential.  All of my best OCing cards the past two years have been the lower ASICs while my higher ASIC cards have been crap.

I think that K|NGP|N cards worth investment. And I would be interest for GTX980Ti K|NGP|N Edition but now I will go rather on reference board with full chip.
But GTX980Ti have nice reference models too. GTX980Ti K|NGP|N Classified will be second faster card after TITAN X Hybrid.
But will be much better for people who more like to OC.

I think you are both right. The 980 kpe bombed big time when it came to overclocking and support. Lets hope the ti version restores the brand.....

After looking through and doing a little deciphering of Vince's post #20 over at Kingpincooling.com, I will take a Wild guess that there will be two Versions of EVGA GTX 980Ti Classified Kingpins.

Some will be based/sold on LOW ASIC (64-68%) for Air and Water Cooling, And Others will be based/sold on HIGH ASIC for DICE/LN2.

I'm Only Just reading into what Vince stated in his post:

"For great air overclocking and voltage scaling on air over 1600mhz, the asic usually need to be lower like 64-68%"

(NOTE: Originally I posted this in the 980 TI Classified Thread in Error, But I am re-posting here also. Once again my apologies to Sajin.)

Do you think that 1600Mhz Boost will be stock for that cooler

No.. not at all. Not for any card.  That is overclocking, and possible to get with some of them, but not all.

You will probably be looking at 1350/1390 area on the K|ngp|n for the stock boost clock, and maybe not as high since there are more cores to feed.  What Hallowen was referring to is specifically from the 980 K|ngp|n, not the 980ti at all.  Do not interpret one to be the same as the other.  There is a lot of differences in the GM204 and GM200 core.

980 Classified, Boost clock 1393mhz
980ti Classified, Boost Clock 1291mhz

980 K|ngp|n, Boost Clock 1418mhz (that is 2 bins over the Regular Classified variant) can be clocked up to 1600 on air/water with good ambient temps and a decent overclocker that has time to figure out how to make it happen, but most people can't do it.
980Ti K|ngp|n, Boost unknown yet.  Overclockability, unknown yet.

No it won't.

Eventually you get into diminished returns.  Even if these are heavily binned, they will OC roughly +4% better than a normal SC.  That's what happened last time, and it's obvious why.

Those of you thinking a KPE Ti will somehow deliver 1600MHz...or even 1500MHz for that matter...well, I guess you don't learn from history.

Save your money.

Or wait and see results rather than assuming.  That is always an option too.  But, to each their own, because this forums is chalk-full of assumers.

I suggested this last time... brace yourself for the butt hurt cry babies that don't own one..  They will want to know why you feel entitled, lol.

I also suggested those that utilize the K|ngp|n as designed (extreme overclockers) get a priority window for order/delivery, and man... that really sets off the air hogs.

Scarlet-Tech what is problem with GTX980 KPE, I didn't pay attention?
I agree if EVGA screw something you should be priority for order new cards... But any kind of discrimination is not good and people will not tolerate.
More than 50% of buyers are gamers and if EVGA give high clock and lot of phase
don't forget that Zotac offer 60MHz faster card than EVGA GTX980Ti Classified and Galaxy want to set over 1300MHz base clock...

Never said anything was wrong, BUT, if I were to take all four cards out to ship them back to EVGA, I would go full XOC on the 980ti's before installing them into the watercooled build, just to see what they can do.

Re: 980 Ti Kingpin 2015/07/04 08:14:30 (permalink)
MSI GTX980Ti Gaming have less clock than Classified and less than KPE later...
Difference from reference GTX980Ti is Crysis 3 1080p x4AA (7 fps), BF4 1080p (12 fps), Far Cry 4 (13 fps), etc... I talk about 980Ti Gaming vs 980Ti reference...
If we compare 980Ti Classified or KPE than difference is probably 10, 15, 16-17 fps in same games.
If some model give you 6-7 fps more on 1440p with x 4AA that's very important thing.
Than when someone buy two or three of them instead reference, he will get 7-8 fps more in 4K resolution.

I would definitely send all of my 980KPE's in if they allow a "Step-Up" from 980 to 980Ti KPE :-)

+1 as long as they perform above par.

Release date ???

Even a rough guess would be great.

I am hoping someone from EVGA can give us a response/answer, I am sure a lot of people would like to know when we can expect to see the kpe.

Thanks

They aren't going to give the answer.  They never do, no matter how many people beg for the answer.  Nothing against you, but it borders on saddening how many people ask this knowing they aren't going to say anything other than "Soon" or "Information next week" which sometimes ends up being 2 or 3 weeks as they iron out errors/hiccups.

Vince posted "Some retail news next week about release" and that is what you get. :-)

Here is a quote from Kingpin that explains why the 980 kpe performed like crap under water.....unless EVGA bins the new kpe these cards are not for water coolers any longer and just for LN2.

"Honestly speaking, I think most end users don't even realize how maxwell gpus are voltage capped at ambient type cooling. I can tell by many of the comments at OC.net, elsewhere, and also here in these card XOC bios threads. Especially compared to kepler. KP 780ti scaled great on voltage with air/water temps. Basically, more voltage = more clocks no matter what temperature.
With 980 and later gpus including titanX, the scaling on air/water has all but almost gone. I would say about 95% of all maxwell 980,titan-X, and 980ti gpus NO MATTER what vga brand pcb it is on, DO NOT SCALE with more voltage than 1.25v-1.275v at temps warmer than 25c or so. There is no magical bios that can effectively remove this.

This is exactly why almost every moderate-good asic titanX, 980, and yes 980ti clock around 1550mhz MAX AVERAGE at say 45-60C loading temps.
If you put 0c and colder on the card, you will see MUCH different behavior than what you see on air (green garbage all over screen when raising volts over 1.23-1.25vv or so)
Cards with very good ASIC value (75% and up) will tend to have the most "overclocking", but just like about every other maxwell gpu, they cannot overvolt past 1.23v-1.25v.
So highest asic cards like 80% +are almost always going to be the ones that can 1600+ on air/water, and again they do it pretty much WITHOUT overvolting over 1.23v-1.25v. Maxwell gpus with lower asic value like 65% will not be so great at air/water because these low asic gpus need voltage to scale compared to match the overclock of the high asic gpus( USING SAME USABLE VOLTAGE 1.23-1.25v)

The bios's I posted basically allow you to set a higher voltage on air/water. Some gpus can scale more, some cant, some actually will NEED more voltage than was previously needed to run same frequency. All different.

Have a better understanding now?"

I agree with you card with... example 1.3V on 50C with water block under full load behave completely different than on 85C.

This is EXTREMELY Interesting, Since Now Vince has reversed his statement I read on Kingpincooling.com where he said that LOWER ASIC% would OC more than HIGHER ASIC% binned Cards, Which is not correct according to the ASIC Charts I previously went by.
Apparently I assumed wrong and it Looks like you'll have to get the New Kingpins at least around sub-zero temps to make them operate like they should.

I can Possibly see it would be better off just buying some 980 Ti Classifieds, Or Probably I'll Just buy One 980 Ti Classified Kingpin and put it under SS Phase Change like I did with my Titan X.

And Then of course there's that New Tek-9 FAT 6.0 I just received.......
