EVGA GTX980Ti Classified have Hynix memory.
Nice. TITAN X SC 216 GTexel/s vs GTX980Ti Classified 209 GTexel/s... very similar numbers.
Normal TITAN X have 192 GTexel/s...and max is 221 GTexel/s TITAN X Hybrid and TITAN X HydroCopper. Only 5 more than EVGA GTX980Ti Classified.
That's important thing, but only if we compare same chip and same architecture.

Re: GTX 980 TI Classified 2015/07/03 17:06:09 (permalink)
5000-5118 Ultra Points! That's more than impressive. Guys 780Ti Classified give around 2800...
That's almost SLI of GTX780Ti Classified, same memory bandwidth + 3GB more. 6GB Video memory.
Better if someone build 980Ti than GTX780Ti Classified. NVIDIA make nice success with GM200.
People who bought second GTX780Ti before few months made mistake. 4900-5000 points with single card is better than 5500 points with SLI.
I mean better for gaming.
EVGA will have big demands for this "normal" Classified with pre-installed backplate for 700$.
Only they need to pay attention on chips inside and everything will be fine and EKWB to offer full cover waterblock.
Than for 800$ people could build same performance as TITAN X and more + waterblock.

Nice overclock on your 5820k. Can I ask what voltage you need to manage that? Mine's not wholly stable at folding for hours on 4.2GHz it seems.

I pre-ordered my two from Amazon on the 27th, but haven't received an update. I've seen people elsewhere say they received their units from pre-orders on the 26th though.

Voltage is ~1.325v @ 4.7ghz, watercooled

It'll hit 4.9 but it takes way too much voltage, heh

Hey guys. I know this is an evga forum but after seeing the specs of the Asus Strix. How will the classified compare to the strix you reckon? And obviously which would be a better choice to get. Both if you're only going to air cool or if you go liquid.

Re: GTX 980 TI Classified 2015/07/05 12:58:21 (permalink)
This is important question... Why EVGA decide to go with inferior clocks to other brands with GTX980Ti cards.
I thought their cards have good clock before I saw others... Classified cards was much faster than Lightening usually.
Now simple ASUS Strix have higher clock than EVGA Classified, and that's not ASUS premium model. Premium will be probably 1250MHz...
It's very bad that ASUS Strix have 120MHz higher clock than Superclocked cards. This cards are much faster than TITAN X.
My personal opinion is that EVGA should launch GTX980Ti Classified ULTRA with 1250MHz or to look people who decide to choose Matrix.
Under waterblock and ugly GIGABYTE is same as EVGA... It's OK absolutely if EVGA launch model with 1250MHz and than Galaxy or some other brand show up with 1270MHz... But it's not nice to Classified be inferior to Strix. Strix if first simple ASUS custom card.
They usually launch two faster model Poseidon and Matrix under ROG name.
CLASSIFIED ULTRA! 1250MHz...  Because we can't buy K|NGP|N that graphic card is not made for gaming...
I mean EVGA don't disappoint me, Classified is not Classified if we have every single brand custom card faster than Classified.
I mean I'm gamer who buy cards because higher clock. I think people in EVGA agree with me that they need much faster card than Classified for gamers.

Classified's are not what they used to be unfortunately:( I still reckon the 980Ti classified is worth its price compared to 980 classified. Only downside is no waterblock. At least for now. I buy custom cards because they have little to no coil whine....

I think EVGA and EK need to build up their relationships.

I gave up on EVGa blocks a long time ago, end up not getting enough of them and waiting a month, or multiple, for another to maybe come in stock if you sit around everyday watching the stock status.

Yes maybe is now ASUS Poseidon best choice for GTX980Ti if ASUS launch with higher clock than 1216MHz (GTX980Ti Strix).
I'm shocked that EVGA decide to go with lower clock but better and that than to lose customers because unstable cards.
Imagine difference between GTX980Ti Strix and GTX980Ti SC 120MHz... 12% faster card and both are overclocked.
Strix is 22% increase over reference speed but I don't like that model...
ASUS will launch and better and because overclocking crew spread that K|NGP|N Edition is not for gamers and gamers had problems it's better to people chose Republic of Gamers for every day gaming. I mean 99% of people use graphic cards for games... 1% buy to shot in them, to burn them, test them under LN2, dice, someone even pay to look them on wall but money came mostly from people who want Crysis 3 and Far Cry 4 with graphic cards...
Or producer of LN2 equipment would be bigger company than Ubisoft and EA, etc...
GTX980 series is for me biggest deal NVIDIA made every and that was good series for company not for gamers...
I still think GTX980 is good card, but that's obvious mid segment and hype increase price of premium models on 850$. GTX980 should cost 350-500$ depend of models as GTX770. I looked one insane politic and because of that I didn't know what happen with GTX980 K|NGP|N and why people had problems, for me that was custom GTX770 for 850$ I didn't even pay attention on that series. With AMD I never know specification of such models. But this year I look how people sell premium cards 10 months old because NVIDIA crippled performance with drivers only to GTX980 look much better. Cards with 192 and 256 bit are not for mid class any more not for high end.

I could give recommendation to EVGA...
EVGA GTX980Ti CLASSIFIED HYBRID. 1250MHz Base Clock 1800 Memory.
Hybrid cooler modified with wide mask, something similar to Fury X only nicer and better.
You can use one blower fan on back side, only bigger than on reference cooler, similar as 580 Classified.
Anyway he will not spin fast because need to cool down VRM only. VRM could be same, and customers will have space to OC more with Hybrid.
Price 780-790$, and you will not be able to build enough cards to satisfy all market.

Hi guys!

Based on the PCB layout, the 780 Classy block will be compatible with the 980 Ti Classified! The confirmation is only visual at the moment but we should have a physical sample of the card soon to physically test it.

For those who already own the blocks and are ready to switch their 700 series for the 900 series, you can also confirm here if they fit too

Nice! If known for certain, will you be rebranding the 780 blocks?

Just so everyone is aware, the 780 classified waterblock doesn't have active cooling over some of the VRM's. I highlighted it in this picture here. This one is a 980 classy block.
The area I highlighted is abscent in 780 classified waterblocks.
