Hi folks!

Two weeks ago I ordered a brand new boxed and sealed EVGA P2 1200W PSU from amazon.co.uk
It has been used with a single Gtx 980 and a stock 5960x cpu with 32Gb DDR4 so nothing unusual.
I was having a bath today and my gf was browsing the internet. Suddenly the psu blew up with a very loud noise ( I could hear clearly from the bathroom ) and the screen went black and pc shutted down. I tried to figured out on different forums what happened but im kinda disappointed because of the short life span and I think its pretty aakward when this happening with a £200 psu with 10 years of warranty.
Im gonna send it back and ask for a replacement.
Anyone here who had same experience after this short period with a decent branded power supply?
I bought this psu because it was scored 10/10 on johnnyguru website and I feel extremely unlucky mine lasted only 2 weeks.
I got a spare different branded psu and was tested it straight away. It works flawless so thank God no other parts has been damaged.
Thanks for reading and I wish longer psu life span to everyone here :)

That is not common at all. EVGA will definitely replace it for you.

Have you had any power outages or anything like that at all?

    Hi mate,

Havent experienced power outages in the last year and I was using 4-5 different rigs with different power supply as well. Pretty odd to be honest and im really thankful none of my other components damaged or destroyed. Im using a Monster HDP 750G Surge Protector as well so I thought im kinda prepared :)

That is crazy then. Very glad the other components are OK.

Why use a 750 surge protector and a 1200w psu? Get you a 1000/1200w surge protect ;-) I am just curious. EVGA should definitely take care of you. If you haven't registered it, you should register and upload your invoice, so evga can get the power supply back and find out what failed.

    Thanks mate appreciate it :)

I dont think the 750G protects me up to 750w I think its just the model number. Im not an electrician anyway :)
I bought P2 1200 because the review and I was planning some extra vgas and maybe a custom loop as well.
I have 2 more weeks to send back to Amazon for a replacement. I live in the UK so I dont know what is the best option.
Send it back to Amazon or register the psu and RMA fwith EVGA?
    Dont know which is better.

If you send it back to evga, they will more than likely replace it since it is under 30 days. You should register it and upload your receipt either way, and contact EVGA so they know what is going on. They will definitely want the unit back for inspection.

If you send it back to Amazon, they will replace it as well, but I am not sure what they will do with the old unit.

    Thanks for replies folks.
I sent it back to Amazon becasue I didnt want to ran out of the 30 days return policy.
Tomorrow im gonna get a new one as replacement.
Will keep you update how things going with the new one.
If I got a faulty one I will get in touch with EVGA and let them sort this out.
Im 34 years old I got more than 15 different rigs lately and never experienced anything like this. Always built up my own rigs so I dont have a clue what happend with my PSU.

Can you provide specifics about what happened to your power supplies that failed?

    Hi there again folks,

Nothing special happened. I built up a new system. Everything ran on stock and the something blew up inside the psu after two week without heavy use or anything else.
I can provide system specs if interested.
Sent back the faulty unit to Amazon then got a replacement after few days.
Second PSU up and running so I really hope its gonna survive few years :)

When people use on EVGA technical support it's little scary before need to buy something else and always look what EVGA offer on that field.

Feelin' pretty good about having the unventilated side of my HAF 922 facing me right about now.

Though I'm pretty sure if it were due for such a catastrophic failure, it would have done so in the first month burn-in period. Hopefully.
