I watch this guy very often and he's has some gear videos... Newegg has done this to me 3 times and that's why I rarely use them anymore... He's also right about EVGAs name being tarnished, as someone could blame evga if it's a bad unit...

Man that is soooo true with Newegg. I've had that happen multiple times with supposedly brand new parts, including brand new EVGA motherboards and GPUs that were clearly opened prior to me receiving them, in one case with dark greasy fingerprints all over it, others with maybe one small accessory missing like the EVGA case badge or cables not tied up etc.. If I wanted refurbished/open box, I expect to pay less for it, and this guy in the video is exactly right about his reasoning and that it happens far too often from Newegg to be a 'mistake'.

A few years back I purchased in one single order from Newegg a new EVGA motherboard, 2 graphics cards, air cooler and ram, all supposedly new. The ram was the only new item, everything else had been opened prior, so I called Newegg and went completely nuts at them, because this certainly wasn't the first time. In the end they replaced everything obviously at no extra cost, but I was delayed for a week or two until I could do the build, which annoyed the heck out of me. When they realized I had reported my experience on a review site (think it was resellerratings.com or some very official well-known one like that), they contacted me and gave me a $200 credit as an apology for the 'error'  because I was a long-term valued client or some such bs - and then asked if I would reconsider the review since they fixed me up. Seriously. I took it under consideration for about 1 second, and decided to leave the review up as is - they didn't deserve yet another pass, but I accepted the $200 for the inconvenience.

I've just had delivered today a brand new i7-4790K, a Corsair 250D case, a Samsung 850 EVO SSD, a couple of case fans and 2x8GB TridentX ram. Everything but the ram came from Amazon, the only reason I got the ram from Newegg was because Amazon was out of stock. Over the last few years I have spend many thousands of dollars that would have been through Newegg if they hadn't been such douchebags with this deceptive selling they are continuing to do, and I have had no issues with Amazon in this time - plus I get free 2-day shipping because I'm a Prime member (that membership has saved me many hundreds of dollars - well worth it, not to mention all the videos and other benefits).

*edit* just realized I got the ram through Amazon too, after changing from an earlier choice.. also I didn't want to use Newegg, it was more expensive with shipping.

I guess it makes financial sense for Newegg to do this, at least in the short term, but in the longer term they are just shooting themselves in the foot. Lucky that we have alternatives.

    Newegg, suck on it.

This kinda sucks. I have being using NewEgg for a while. The main reason for this is to avoid tax. Since Amazon has a location in my State, I need to pay lots of taxes when I purchase from them. I guess I will have to be careful from now on. Hopefully, the guy files a complaint against them. This is very unprofessional.

Newegg is double dipping, charging customers restocking fee, while sending out used products as a new one hoping customers don't care. That is something i would expect from TigerDirect not Newegg.  I doubt evga will say anything to newegg about it, they have too much to lose. If anything they will just contact that person and offer to exchange it with a brand new one.

Hah, had a similar problem a years ago with a mobo. Paid for a new one and received an open box. My main problem, being that the mobo was half a globe away from egg, wasn't that it was opened, but that whoever laid his paws on it, tinkered with it and destroyed a few of the traces that we're going to the memory. Had to find a guy that could fix it locally and pay for the repair.

same here, got a MB that had clearly been opened, returned for replacement after dealing with there live chat rep for 2 min. quick but delayed the build. Will only buy from the egg if only option or a much better price.

I really hate to see the decline of Newegg as I have bought so many things from them - the components for at least 4 computers. More recently I have experience something that while it seems small will probably start a death spiral for them if they do not fix it.
Recently ordered a few small parts from them and it took 10 days to get them. The problem was pointed out graphically when some parts ordered from Amazon only two days ago arrived at the exact same time.
While 10 days would have been acceptable a few years ago, the market has changed and unfortunately Newegg is on the wrong side of the marketing model. Possibly they are becoming nothing but a forwarder of goods or they have just lost their way. Hope they can come back - we need all the competition we can get.

I haven't shopped at newegg in at least 8 years. I never understood why people bother with them, there are always better deals to be had elsewhere.

Unlike the one above me.. I have been shopping with NewEgg sense 2003, Never had an issue like the above with receiving an Open box item. I have had an issue before of UPS Damaging items but never like the above.

I get all my purchases within 2 days of ordering. Regardless of what shipping method used. 2 day or "3-7 Day" It always arrives within 2 days.

I have had issues with TigerDirect more times than I can count however on many different fronts. Not getting proper bought items, not getting them on time. Digital Gift Cards not working, Digital gift cards actually being mailed to your house a week later...All kinds of goodies. Refuse to ever buy from them.

Last thing I bought from TD was a VII Hero Z97 mobo that was suppose to take 2 days to get here WITH 2 day shipping. It took them a week to get it here.

EXACTLY - I can't even figure out how they are still in business after everything they've done , especially when the owners were indicted for fraud/ bribery etc.... mind boggling.

NewEgg used to be my go to website for computer parts, Ever since they opened the marketplace and started selling other stuff, That is no longer just computer hardware, They've been getting nothing but complaints.

I actually haven't bought anything from NewEgg in about a year, I use Amazon now, Since They seem to be going the right way as they grow, Whereas it's the opposite for NewEgg.

I used to buy new stuff all the time but now I don't. The practices they pull are shady. Not just that but shipping is terrible. Every oem drive I bought needed to be returned. Then I saw the crap they pulled with danger den. I just refuse to buy from them unless I can't get it from Amazon. I don't care about paying taxes one way or another your going to pay :)

As for this guy I wouldn't waste my breath complaining unless a lawyer is willing to take it up. It's going to have happened to us all.

Im one of the fortunate ones that's never really had an issue with Newegg.  I have had to deal with customer service a few times and in those cases, the problems have always been resolved with a minimum of fuss.

I can understand the frustration of the person making the video over what happened, but I have to take that review with a teaspoon of salt because of all the other "stuff" that's out there with people making mountains out of molehills.

I've been buying from NewEgg since the great recession of 1929!!! The only issue I have ever had with them is their sometimes shotty packing.  Other than that , 2 thumbs up!
I have been purchasing more from Amazon recently too bc I'm a prime member. Can't beat free 2-day shipping. I love Amazon too!!  Just wish they accepted PayPal.

He might have realized he was overreacting or he accepted an offer from NewEgg for damages that included the rights to the video.

I highly doubt he thought he was overreacting (which I don't think he was at all), much more likely they offered him cash like they did me.

When I was first getting started the first purchase I made was from NewEgg so they continue to be my first stop for shopping especially after Tiger-Direct sold me a lame DiabloTek RPM 1050 and refused to make it right. Amazon seems to be carrying more components that give me some more buying options besides NewEgg.

I have never had an issue with newegg. Well maybe shipping but not really their fault. The kind of shipping where the package gets handed off in the end to USPS. May never arrive or will take 10-20 days. Problem is any company that that ships that method to me will have the same issue. I just make sure I check what the free shipping method is. Then pay the extra to not be shipped that way.

I haven't shopped at newegg in at least 8 years. I never understood why people bother with them, there are always better deals to be had elsewhere.

I only shop Tiger,New Egg and then Amazon because I have Prime, where do you find your deals?

I have Hover-Hound on Firefox so I can compare prices between T-D, NewEgg and Amazon from NewEgg's page.
