Hi.

I use Octane Render v2.17 demo plugin for 3ds max 2015 and I have GTX 780 Ti Classified with 353.06WHQL driver.

This GPU uses all defaults (clock, VRAM, volts, power limit...).
I got "warning: render is failed" after only ~30 minutes on my room with 27 ºC.

How do I disable boost core for GPU due to the hot room (~27 ºC)??

NOTE: My old GTX 480 and 580 3GB got ZERO fails and amazing after renderer average 10 hours at ~10 images differents.

Cause of render failed is errors of Windows:

Have you tried using MSI Afterburner or EVGA PrecisionX to set a custom fan profile? I set my 780 TIs to max fan at 80C to prevent thermal throttling.

As far as disabling GPU boost, you can use those programs to turn on KBoost and set the clock speed you want.

FYI -  I wouldn't use those drivers for your 780ti.  If you read through the forums, many people have been complaining about any of the 350.xx and above drivers causing many crashes in many different programs....

I would wipe those drivers out , & do a fresh install of the 347.xx versions

I use MSI AfterB 4.1.0 and custom fan with 100% fan speed since 72ºC or hotter.

I got only almost 70 ºC and 65% power while rendering scene during some hours.

NOTE: I don't like EVGA Precision X 16 because I can't appear OSD despite OSD checked...

Yeah. I'll downgrade to 347.xx but I'm worried because old driver may be not optimized for GTA V, pCARS...

That looks to be a question for EVGA's Tech Support. I did a Google search and found a couple of others with that same issue, but nothing explaining why that was the case. Maybe if you use a DVI to VGA converter to get around it?

As a last resort, there might be a VBIOS out there that disables the automatic overclock (maybe SLV7's?).

    Yes, DVI-VGA.

Kboost enabled = boost disabled (1020 MHz core) - ok?

I think 1070 MHz is what the 780 Ti Kingpin's stock clocks are - but that looks fine.

Really, if the card doesn't give you problems with GPU Boost 2.0 disabled (essentially what K-Boost does), you may want to see about a RMA because that shouldn't be an issue.

I tried 353.38 (hotfix)... but I got "warning: render is failed", using Octane Render VR 2.23 plugin for 3ds max.

But... I got full load ~62 ºC and ~70-75% power at all stock speeds with boost 1150 MHz core.

At this point, I would call or email EVGA tech support - your card should work.

Have you tried the OLDER driver yet, as was recommended?

For more information, see this thread:
    http://forums.evga.com/Th...d-732015-m2359625.aspx

Try driver 347.25. The 700 series products are "End Of Life" and the newer drivers tend not to work as well as time progresses.

Try driver 347.25. The 700 series products are "End Of Life" and the newer drivers tend not to work as well as time progresses.

Tried uninstall 353.38hotfix, reboot pc to use DDU (display driver uninstaller) and select "clean and reboot" in safe mode, install 347.25WHQL in normal mode... but I got again render failed after 9 hours rendering.

350.12 WHQL is last good driver for series 700.
That's my opinion. All drivers after that cause crash in idle in Google Chrome.
That happen once in 3 day and than it's not big problem but with previous driver never happen.

You went from render failed in 30 minutes to render failed in 9 hours just by changing the drivers. Pretty good!

Try increasing the fan speed more. You are at, what, 96% fan speed speed at 70c? Why not just increase the fan to 100%?

Ok but not much better but yes render time is random.
I got ~12 hours by split without fail ... and total longest time without fail 43 hours in past weeks - Weird.
Yesterday I got 76ºC@auto fan speed default (without any tool) after 56minutes of render without fail... aah! I ran EVGA Precision.

In my opinion, the next things to try are:
    1) Try 100% fan speed to see if the small drop in temperature stabilizes the video card. You should be able to drop from 70-75c down to around 65-68c based on the temperatures and fan speeds you have provided. If this helps, good, but not really a great solution. Reset fan back to auto and test item 2 and 3 below.
    2) Try decreasing the video card core clock, then try decreasing the video card memory clock. If one of those helps, you know where the problem lies.
    3) Try increasing the video card core voltage. Does it help?
    4) If neither item 2 or 3 help, it may not be your video card causing the render failure. Consider at that point that the system memory or CPU may have stability issues. Run memtest to test memory and prime95 or linx to test CPU (and memory).
    5) If either item 2 or 3 helps, consider RMAing the video card.

Ok, I'll increase fan speed 100% constantly. Maybe decrease GPU clock.

My CPU and RAM haven't stability issues because Octane Render does never use CPU to render but OR uses GPU only.

Octane Render may "only use your GPU", but your GPU only works when the CPU tells it what to do; every one of its instructions come to it from the program through the CPU. And your GPU uses system memory for swap space when necessary.

Disconnect your video card from the motherboard. Does it keep rendering? No? I guess it needs the CPU and memory.

Ok. I would disconnect NV GPU but OR doesn't support any CPU nor iGPU (if my Intel HD 3000 onboard must support mboard with VGA and DVI ports).

I decreased -84 MHz GPU core (from boost 1150 to 1066 MHz) and... I got no render failed. But I continue to test this until sunday.

GPU Core speed isn't issue but I think... yes VRAM speed@stock is issue. -> Hynix may be bad brand, ok?

    -> Therefore, will I leave GTX 780Ti to EVGA-RMA?

Render is again failed with new error - https://render.otoy.com/f...c.php?f=25&t=54223

I'll leave GTX 780Ti Classy to RMA but if this GPU won't be fixed then I must want minimum GTX 980 Ti reference (NOT GTX 980 non-Ti with any OC edition). ;)
