That's one area that I haven't gotten into too far (Modded Vbios alterations) mainly because I have enough to deal with when using the ones that are available.
Maybe one day I'll try attempting more on that.

Not talking about using that kepler editor thing. Talking about actually hex editing the changes. Hex editing the bios is not even remotely easy. lol. And to many try to copy and paste solutions that they did not figure out them selves.

Using Windows 10 Pro Insider build 10130, I WOULD have improved my Fire Strike score by 504 points, But Futuremark doesn't approve these 353.30 drivers yet!

Got a Minor improvement in Valid Fire Strike Score using 353.06/Windows 8.1.
Still waiting for Futuremark to approve the 353.30 drivers and also the Retail release of Windows 10.

Windows10 release will be a good day for benchers everywhere.  OS is just fast, plain and simple.

For your benching system, do you go through the OS and strip out everything not needed either by disabling functions or disabling services to have the least background overhead when you are benching, or do you just run it stock?

I have always ran my OS's used for Benching complete with All updates.
After the issues we discussed concerning the odd operation of PX & 980Ti Vbios's, I'm undecided WHAT to do next.

Windows 10 is awesome, I run the technical preview on my machine and love it.

When I was super into it, I did strip out some OS's, but I don't bench anymore, simply no time for it right now. When I finish college I plan to get a dual stage phase, a couple SS's, some 160L LN2 dewars, and go to town though.

It doesn't make a huge difference, I mainly found it helped in wprime and superpi for obvious reasons. For 3D benching stock is probably fine, it might lower CPU score by a couple hundred points but no huge impact is made.

Ahh ok.  I was curious.  It makes sense at some level, as the real performance differences of a lot of the adjustments made in subzero benching are small but they still make more points, like dropping your ET .05 seconds, that can be the difference of getting a win right there.  So I had figured OS's would be stripped as bare as possible for those extra few points.  But that can be rather tedious to go through and do.

Looking forward to seeing more subzero benching being done here.  You said when you finish college, is that soon?

I've been running Windows 10 tech preview since October 2014 going through all the various Builds released and the 10130 build finally worked right when running benchmarks, But I can't wait for the Final retail release on July 29!

Good Luck in college Halo, Hope you achieve your goals and we will see you back here soon trying to "Get it Colder" once again.

If what I think comes to fruition, I may be reconsidering and bypassing the purchasing of the EVGA 980Ti Classifieds and wait for the supposedly two different versions (Which I think will be offered in Low ASIC% versions for air/water cooling and High ASIC% versions for DICE/LN2 cooling) of the EVGA 980Ti Classified Kingpin offerings.

This, Of course is based on assumptions I have made while doing research in the Kingpincooling.com Forum Posts I have been reading through Today, But I'm beginning to see a better Picture of "A Special way they will be offered like never before" as stated by EVGA_JacobF.

Then this would mean without a doubt binned chips.

Yes it would.

I came to this assumption after reading over a section of Vince's statement (post #20) in the Kingpincooling.com Forums over the past weekend:

"...........For great air overclocking and voltage scaling on air over 1600mhz, the asic usually need to be lower like 64-68%.........We have a solution for the issue of the best gpus for ln2 not being the best gpus for air/water and we are planning to sell the Ti KP in a very unique way unlike any other card to date. There will be more details soon about it and I think it can help with this situation."

While I don't do any XOC'ing, I do enjoy reading here and seeing what you guys all do. And I will say that the idea of binning the chips for air and LN2 OCer's is really cool. Can't wait to see more about it.

When your into XOC'ing, It all boils down to paying attention to what Kingpin (Vince) and TiN are stating/doing in their posts at Kingpincooling.com. I have read numerous posts over there that have contradicted my previous beliefs in how I should go about obtaining desired results.

Nice Pics Szeged, I'm Also looking forward to the release of the Kingpin(s).

I always wanted to know if the ASUS OC Panel would read the CPU extreme sub-zero temps on LN2 and at -69.1C, I see it does.

Also shows (Like Myself) you don't need to have everything neat and tidy to Enjoy Extreme Overclocking, Just whatever gets it Done! LOL

Now, I Know I stated to everyone after I tried DICE for the first time last year on my ASUS X79 Rampage IV using an Intel 4930K......And managed to destroy not Only the Motherboard, But the CPU as well, That I would NEVER attempt that again.

Unfortunately I must be losing my mind for whatever reason and have decided to give it a go one more time just because it irritated me so much when everything failed the last try.

I have coated the MB the entire Front and Back with PJ using a heat gun to make sure it flowed underneath all the components (Including the Ram slots, PCIe slots, etc...), Remounted and insulated the Kingpin F1 Pot and someday when I get a chance to purchase some DICE, I'll give it a try once again.

P.S.
I'm in no hurry, And even though it's ready for testing, it still may take me awhile.

I have most of my board covered now, and will be covering the rest of it before attempting subzero again.  It is worth the extra few minutes to liquefy some petroleum jelly to make sure nothing can short.

Thanks Szeged,
You can Never use enough PJ as far as I'm concerned.

The problem I had before (at least in my mind) was caused by me using kneadable eraser for the first time and for whatever reason not following that up with PJ to ensure a good moisture protection seal in and under the Memory/ PCIe slots which caused a short on the MB.

I totally Agree with you Scarlet.

BTW, Did you ever get the Graphics card working good with sub-zero temps?

No, I couldn't get the display working for some reason, although it was working fine after it warmed up.  It just wouldn't display at all, and the other card worked perfect.  I will try again soon, as I am just waiting for an RMA at this point.  There was nothing physically wrong with it, so I am not sure where the failure was honestly.

was it a kepler or maxwell card? if so you have to use a dvi to vga adapter and a vga cable because the cards bug out around -40c and stop giving a display if using a dvi cable.

It was Kepler, and using the adapter to VGA.  After it warmed up and thawed out, it worked perfect... about a week later, it didn't work at all.

Re:Get It Colder......2 2015/07/01 09:52:33 (permalink)
OK Guys, I ran DICE for four Hours on the CPU at 4.8GHz, 4.9GHz, and 5.0GHz, But I still couldn't top my best Overall Score in Fire Strike no matter what CPU OC I used, Even though I was at a much Colder sub-zero temp.
I did manage to improve my scores in the Physics Tests by OC'ing to 5.0GHz, But the Graphics Tests FPS scores fell off at that CPU OC and went lower resulting in a reduced overall score.

Strange that the Graphic cards operating at the same settings I had when using the Vapo at 4.875GHz didn't have as high a FPS score with the CPU at 5.0GHz for reasons I evidently have not found as of yet.

At Least Everything worked well with No Problems this time, But to me, I think I'll stick with the SS Phase Change that is MUCH easier to operate and No, I don't plan to use LN2 anytime in the Future.

Anyway, Finally had some Fun with DICE and Here's a few pics and Fire Strike Scores.
