I have been playing with windows movie maker and I'm not quite sure I can do what I want to do with it. I have 3 videos of smoke/vapor clouds being blown at the camera. One straight on and one from each side so I can sort of fill the screen and pull my bearded avatar through the smoke for a youtube channel I'm starting to work on. At this moment I'm testing ram for errors so I'm relying on my phone as is usual for right now. So my searching is sort of limited at the moment. Does anyone know any software that can do this or even what I'm trying to do is called? Layering?

Look into Cyberlink PowerDirector software. I have used it for a while now. I have not tried it with smoke and an avatar, but it can combine multiple shots into one scene very easily.

I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12.

It has support for GPU accelerated rendering too!
