I also hope this launch goes well for AMD -  just so some good competition lowers prices for the rest of us.

Not sure we can feel confident in this happening, as the rebranding continues. Without new silicon, it may not do what we need. AMD's market share is delwindling. The time between releases is a concern, but then again most of this is hyperbole, as nothing has been released. It just shows you the tension this causes. Most of what has been out there really relies on DX12, as those titles are limited and not sure when game developers will begin coding that into games. It is still wait and see, although a good launch, as well as a good product, will be welcoming news for all.

No I can't love AMD more than NVIDIA, but I will be sad if NVIDIA decide to play their games instead to offer us one normal full unlocked GM200 6GB for 700-750e reference model. That GM200 is not god miracle. That's one normal 30% stronger card than GTX980. 10-12 months after GTX980 I think customers deserve 30% stronger card with 2GB more memory as successor for similar price.

If we have deal with normal people and normal companies that would be 30% stronger card with 2GB more video memory for exactly same price as previous GTX980, but ok high end chip 30% stronger, successor, let's say 100-150e more.
But No.... NVIDIA decide to ask 100-150e more for 12-15% more than GTX980.
OK. NVIDIA. That mean I will have Maxwell if god throw me TITAN X from cloud directly in my hands. Better to say never.
And when GTX980Ti show up than suddenly people will notice strange low fps with first Maxwell generation, same as NVIDIA do now to us with Kepler. AMD have same performance Tahiti and Hawaii only depend from real power of chip. NVIDIA try to sabotage performance of Kepler.

I planned not earlier but at the end of August or early September to update on GTX980Ti but if NVIDIA cut 2 CUDA Cores that chip don't interest me, same as I think GTX980 is literally at the edge with memory and nothing rapidly better than overclocked 780Ti GPU. That mean no normal and good option except TITAN X or some AMD card. We had same performance as GTX980 10 months before NVIDIA launch 900 series, with overclocked full GK110 models, and investing now 18 months later in almost same is madness.

I wonder how much a 980ti, with the cut down, will need to be OCd to get same results as a titan x. If a titan x can get 1300 max OC and a 980ti can get 1600, and the Titan x is just 10% stonger, wouldnt the 980ti classy be stronger?

Provided he's not being facetious, it isn't for AMD's benefit.  Just like those that want Zen to be awesome just to make Intel worth upgrading, I'm sure Vlada hopes nVidia will push out 14nm Pascal faster by both timeline and raising the performance bar.  Except on the CPU side, Zen was pulled early due to GloFo throwing AMD's Skybridge plans under a bus (unless it was a rope-a-dope), so Skylake won't have the massive IPC increase people are expecting.

Pascal and Arctic Islands, however, will see massive increases since both companies are implying 2x performance per watt increase going into 14nm from 28nm.  The number of parallel processors can double (GM200 will have 6144-CUDA and Greenland will have 8192-sp) and there will always be a point to upgrade the graphics card.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

He has me a little confused as well. he was raiving about Pascal the other day (not to mention his avatar picture), then he raves about AMD.

I CANNOT see any reason to stay with Nvidia and maybe pay more for the 980Ti GPU with less Performance wise by maybe 20 to 30% is a Huge issue along with 980Ti only having 6gigs of Vram instead of AMD's 390x having a whopping 8gigs. And it's a Huge difference for next-gen games and gamers who will not be able to afford Sli or Crossfire. Now maybe the R-390x will be more expensive, but it it is, it won't be by much to make a real difference. But i've also heard the 390x might be the same price or even lower than the 980Ti to???

The thing that brought me from ATI to Nvidia in the day, was the fact that Nvidia has a Lot better support drivers wise and worked, whereas ATI didn't have that, and I hear from most prominent ppl that are not Nvidia or ATI/AMD biased, that Nvidia still does have better driver support, though ATI/AMD is better, though i don't know by how much.

EVGA bar none has the best Customer service I have ever seen. And I sure as hell know EVGA isn't selling any AMD GPUs. :(

Also fact is in my opinion Nvidia as a Whole, makes better serviceable GPUs also. It would/ will scare the hell out of me if i ever do buy an ATI/AMD 390x. I would be be scared to death because I don't even remember the last year i had an ATI GPU. It was probably 20 years ago, so i'd be scaredas hell of getting another ATI/AMD GPU not knowing what to expect.

Another thing that scares me, is how the ATI/AMD GPU is connected differently than all other GPU's also.

But 1 thing I hate is that Nvidia wasn't willing to take their 980Ti and say to every1-- Okay guyys were gonna redo our 980Ti and kick AMDs arse because were gonna totally redo out 980Ti. And any GPU maker should be willing to do the extra mile, even if it means almost an extra wait of a year, i would be willing to wait that long or longer.

    as the rebranding continues..

I think people are overlooking the fact that the rebranding could be done by GF on there fabs and could give Hawaii XT a lot more speed as to fill the gap between 290x and 390x.. it's been rumored the fab change would offer +25% performance to Hawaii XT and would fit very nice with Fiji having +50-60% over 290x.
