We are wanting to stress test the servers for the Citizen Science Grid. This will give us some final details needed for adding the project to the DC-Vault. Please join us in this endeavor. The only thing you have to do in order to participate is to create and account at the project and make sure you have associated yourself with your team. Your team founder will need to join the challenge at BOINCStats.com

http://boincstats.com/en/stats/challenge/team/chat/685
Dates: 6/1-6/8
Project page: http://volunteer.cs.und.edu/csg/

Travis (project admin) has already approved of the challenge and is hopeful for a good turnout.

Glad to have you guys on board. SubSetSum has the majority of the available work units. DNA comes in small batches. Wildlife work units are rare as they are still working on getting those going. They also just added a fourth project on Climate but it is alpha and don't look like the traditional type of work. So, to stay fed, just make sure everything is selected.

    Good job Bill, and thanks

Had a little stop in my Construction Project caused of massive rain. Couldn't come up with anything better to do than signing up for Citizen.
Added a 12core to see how they roll.
By the 1st I should have some cores ready to rumble

If Citizen serve, EVGA will chew

In timed challenges, teams normally compete in producing results within a timed frame.
Most teams begin their download at the announced starting point, then see who make most points.
As I see it, this challenge will have two goals, one is to produce results within the project's science, the second goal will be to stress test their servers.
So I wonder, will the project managers accommodate bunkering?
If so, they will have a good opportunity to see how their servers deal with a good chunk of wu's up for validation at the 1st of June.

    Hardly
    btw, Welcome to crunching mflanaga

I noticed, one of my rig's put prox half of the wu's on hold, "waiting for memory" status.
After a quick look, it seems some of their wu's need 1GB ram each.
This particular rig, an intel 3970x had only 4gig's of memory.
On way to deal with this could be to go to BOINC "Tools" and "Computing Preferences" then in the "Processor usage" tab, edit the value in
"On Multiprocessor systems, use at most XXX % of the processors"
    I put it to 50%.
This way you will only crunch on half the amount of cores, but with the speed advantage of running Hyper threading off.
Also, just mentioning, this will only be helpful for intel's with Hyper Threading capabilities.

I'm having account issues at CSG.
I can't create an account because my email address is "already in use". Tried to change password and they say "Can't send email to that address"
2 questions: Did we already have a team created there before bill1024 did so the other day, and was this project ever named something else?
I have no memory of creating an account and no written proof  (password cheat sheet) either.

Bunkering is allowed and for the sake of testing the servers, I would say this is acceptable to do. Travis wants to know how his new servers can handle things. Might as well put it to the full test...

yodap, Citizen Science Grid used to be 3 different projects. SubSetSum, DNA, and Wildlife were all merged and became sub projects to Citizen Science Grid. If you had any accounts before, try merging the accounts (Linking). You may have to log in first to do this. You may have to go through the lost password scenario. If you can't get that to work, let me know and I will try and contact Travis for you.

    Oh, okay bill, my bad.

cuarc, I have no record of ever crunching those projects. I use the same email for all boinc and non boinc prjects and a different pw for each. They say my email is in use but they can't send me a link to change my password. I am unable to log in as such.
If you can help out, let me know what you need in a PM.
I could try to join with another email address but I think that causes other problems of duplication or something.
    Thanks

There is something odd there, it shows our team with no founder.  Looks like one of the co-captains should initiate a founder transfer request to have it set up properly.  (Make sure you are logged in with the captains ID before you do that)

    Punchy,
1, I've been snooping a little and several teams don't list a founder. Is it a big deal?
2, I can log in as evga captain. Would it be as simple as a PM to the admin?
3, Should founder be EVGA DC Captains? (Probably shouldn't be me, I still can't log in to my own account.)

I set up that account long ago and never used it for anything other than creating teams, but my understanding is that a founder can remove users, lock the team or delete it, and without a founder I'm afraid anyone could take control.  The intent was to share that account among co-captains so we didn't get into a situation where someone disappears and we lose control of the team.  Coleslaw has mentioned another way of doing things but I think we're already far down this path.
Once you log in with the captains account, just go to the team page and click on "initiate request" on the "team foundership change" line, and see what happens.

    Okay, got this far

and then this when I hit request.

cuarc thinks there may still be server issues (we aren't getting emails) and then this.

yodap, I have sent Travis a PM in regards to this as well with a link to this thread for reference. Hopefully, he can get you guys straightened out. It may have had something to do with how linking the accounts went when he merged the projects into CSG. But, I will let him comment on what he finds.

A word to the new co-captains.  I've always signed us up on a new project with the EVGA DC Captains and creating the team... initiating a founder transfer sometimes takes a month.  On the bright side, most of the projects are now founded by EVGA DC Captains I may have missed one or two, so look out for them MIA's.

One of the ones I checked on was PrimeGrid and that's in your name Viper. I don't see a need, but let me know if you want me to initiate a change.

Viper97 can change the founder from the administer options. Or at least should have the option... Just make sure the account you want to have it is currently registered and associated with the team.

In regards to setting the team founder:

This issue happened with some other teams where the founder isn't set correctly. If they send me an email and a PM for who should be the team leader I can go into the database and fix it.

I can confirm that I am now receiving email notifications. yodap, you may want to try resetting your password again.

Just an FYI, Travis has taken my advice and bumped the maximum per host limit from 64 to 256. There is still a limit of 4 per core/thread limit but those whom have multi socket rigs should be able to cache more than one or two work units each now.

    Nice going Mr.C001.
The other day, while having evil bunker plan's, I noticed I wasn't able to Down more than a handful of wu's.
I let it go, planning to start out later, no sweat.
Furthermore, they offered rather tight deadlines. Downloading the 27th, deadline 31st.

Did a test right now. Will take less than 4hrs to finish the batch I was given.

Give us WU's according to their own settings ( "Store at last.... XX days of work. Max 10 Days" )

Tell Travis to open the valves

Orange, I relayed your concern over to Travis. I will let him decide on if he is comfortable with bumping it higher. As is, it helps fight bunkering. But I agree it can be annoying for cases where you want to guarantee work if there is a server blip, holiday, etc...
