GTX 780 SC ACX with GTX 780 in SLI?

So, I bought an EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC ACX a little less than a year ago. Been a great card so far but I was considering getting another one to have and SLI setup. Problem is this specific card is no longer made and it's quite hard to find a new one at a reasonable price ( talking $600 + ). 

My question is, for SLI to work properly/optimally does it have to be the EXACT same card? Or can I pick up another GTX 780 in another model?

    No, the card just needs to have the EXACT same gpu and the same amount of vram, so it will work.

    Today I setup my first 780 SLI
     
    Asus GTX 780 3gb Reference Edition
    Asus GTX 780 DCUii OC 3gb Edition
     
    Both cards worked well together and when testing Valley Benchmark they were around 3500
    When I ran the cards in SLI it hit 4440
     
    One card was water cooled and the DCUii was stock, the temps on both were under 50c

    The cards have to have the same ram, and would need to be the same GPU. You can SLI other 780's together. A GTX 780 will SLI with a 780 SC. And you can SLI a reference blower with an ACX card. But you can not SLI a GTX 780 with a GTX 780Ti. And if all else fails send EVGA support a quick message and they should be able to tell you for sure if they will work together.
