Hey guys,

I am noticing if I have PrecisionX 16 running in the background while using Media Player Classic for watching, it causes MPC to crash, freeze, and or skip. If i close PrecisionX 16 completely and run MPC, it runs fine.

Has anyone had this issue before and does anyone have solutions for this issue?

Thanks.

Might want to try uninstalling precision and using msi afterburner.

I see Bonjour showing up as errors. This is not related to x16 or MPC, weird...?

Same thing for me....but it's not a problem with Bonjour.

I try to reinstall MPC, or Precision X, ...change version of MPC, always the same problem, MPC freeze!

If i close Precision X, MPC work like a charm like before. (Never had a problem with MPC)

Thanx for your help!

EVGA has ignored user bug/crash reports for PrecisionX for months now.

Uninstall PrecisionX and try MSI Afterburner and see if the same issue happens. My game crashes were fixed by doing this, and I'll bet that your MPC crashes will be as well.

I am guessing not, but it doesn't seem like there is a solution other than using MSI Afterburner or close the program while using MPC (which is what I am doing for now)...

All you need to do is open the EVGA Precision server and add the programs "exe" that you are having trouble with to the list. It is a separate program running in the tray by the clock, you may need to click the up triangle to show hidden icons. There are two of them now a 32 & 64 bit.
It crashes ton's of programs, like Word, Excel, windows media player, VLC Player, etc.. Also crashes games like windows solitaire and Zuma.
They should make it where you pick the games and apps you want it to work on, or make a better list of the one's it does not work on.

i7-3930k, H80, Sabertooth X79, 16GB DDR3 1600 Quad channel, 2x GTX 780 SLI, SoundBlaster Z, Gamer 900w, 850 pro SSD, 3x 1TB Black Raid "0", 600t, Win 8.1 x64.

Yep, here are the same steps, listed a little differently, for a workaround that should do the trick:

=====================================
OSD is still erroneously interfering with processes, even when it is turned off!

Here is a tedious workaround to prevent the issue:
- Click "OSD" to temporarily turn it on
- Find the new "Server" icon in your system tray, and double click it to open it
- Use the "Add" button, to add all of your game/application executables to this "OSD Exclusion list"
- Click OK to close the "Server" window
- Click "OSD" to turn it back off again
- Exit Precision X, and then re-open it
- Test to see if your game/application works now without OSD making it misbehave

Basically, for my main games (Hearthstone and iRacing), I have to add them to this "OSD Exclusion list" for them to work properly, even when OSD is off. It's a royal pain of a bug, but so far, the tedious workaround prevents the issue from happening.

EVGA: Please please please fix this. When OSD is off, it should not be interfering with processes!

Thanx guys!

I know MSI Afterburner work with no prob. But, i like the Precision X soft. Everybody tell me that EVGA have a super customer support. So i try this forum to address a problem with Precision X.
I don't have the EVGA Precision server install, or i am blind and miss this icon in my system tray.

For now i close Precision X...when i think about it....before i star a movie with MPC.

EVGA: Please please please fix this.

Did you turn OSD on, like I said? Once you turn it on, a new icon should show in the tray. Then, just add the executables to the exclusion list in that program, and see if it works. Follow the steps exactly as I wrote them. That way, you'll have no compromises.

You guys are awesome. I've been going crazy over this issue and posted on a couple different forums without any luck. Today I just turned off Precision X on a whim instead of just the OSD to hide the statistics on my video and didn't get any crashes. Finding it odd, I googled it and found this thread. Finally. :D

I also came across this problem very recently, drove me insane. But now it all makes sense when I recently turned on OSD for games but it didn't click in my head it was the OSD. I even reinstalled windows, installed/uninstalled all the codec packs you could think of to no avail.

But now my MPC-HC works perfect and I'm so happy it's solved!

Thank you!

I had this same issue with 3 different media player programs.  Added them to the exclusion list and so far it seems to have worked.

I haven't tried 5.3.5 yet if the problem persists I'll give it a go.  I didn't get a chance to try out 5.3.3 while watching video for very long with an exception made for Media player classic.

It's not just VLC. I've used Gom Player, MPC, WMP and they all crash, but the minute I close out of PrecisionX videos no longer hang or crash the application. I'm also using the latest version of Precision X. Issue occurs in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

They still have to solve this problem. It seems this exclusion list is just a patch solution. If MSI can have no issues, then EVGA shouldn't either. They just need to work on it.

Please fix this EVGA.  I have tons of software, I don't want your OSD automatically screwing with.  This is not a solution, it is a kludge of a workaround and I'm not going to have the patience to put s/w in this exclusion list everytime I have issues.  Problems with PX in the past forced me to switch to Afterburner before, but I came back to give PX a second chance.  Issues like this will drive me back to Afterburner, this time for good.  Just sayin'.

Yep, here are the same steps, listed a little differently, for a workaround that should do the trick:

=====================================

=====================================

Thanks for this, worked like a charm.  Seems like the older version of x16 I had installed didn't have this issue or require this fix.  Also coolyou, the fix works whether or not you use/enable the OSD because the issue is there whether or not you choose to use/enable the OSD.

Thanks.

Was having the exact same issue... I thought something was wrong with my codecs, or maybe when I'd installed DivX it messed up something. I tried so many different things including a fresh install of Windows, never suspected it could be PrecisionX (especially because I had the OSD disabled completely). After I installed PrecisionX on the fresh Windows install, I noticed that video players were STILL not working right, and that was when I finally realized what the real problem was... Closed out of PrecisionX and every video player works flawlessly. It doesn't just affect MPC either, EVERY video player, even PowerDVD and Totalmedia Theater is affected. Also affected is embedded video on sites like Youtube, Netflix and HBO GO, unless you disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player and Sliverlight. It also causes EA Origin's in-game overlay to not work.

Best to just uninstall PrecisionX and roll back to an older version of it (AFAIK this overlay glitch affects 5.3.7 and 5.3.6), or use MSI Afterburner until EVGA fixes this. I can't trust software with a feature that causes problems with other software, even when it's disabled.

The fix i'm using :
Turn Off OSD.
Close precision X.
Open the folder where you installed it.
Rename PrecisionXServer.exe to PrecisionXServer.exe.old
Rename PrecisionXServer_x64.exe to PrecisionXServer_x64.exe.old

Launch Precision X
No server.exe running = No crash.

Have fun :)
