Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted here. I've been out of the computer scene for a few years since my X58 build. However, I do look at the forum from time to time haha. Anyway, I just build a new rig from the parts I bought last weekend. It took me almost the whole day to put everything together. So far I'm loving the new system and the Corsair 900D case. It's also so quite compared to the X58 rig. I haven't OC the cpu and ram yet, but will work on it soon.

Also, I'm still debating on whether or not I should get another 780 classified for SLI, get a single 980 classified, or just wait for the new upcoming graphics card. What do you guys think?

Below are a few pix of the new rig and the parts are in my signature.

I like your rig. I have also upgraded from an X58 motherboard to a X99 motherboard and noticed that everything is so much quieter now. But then again I went away from my antec 1200 full size case with tons of fans to a smaller nzxt phantom 240 case with less fans. On top of that my new evga gtx 980's fans don't even spin until the gpu temps get about 65C so that helps too.

Thanks. I used to have an antec 1200 case with lots of fans, and it was pretty quiet. My old 800D rig was louder due to using higher rpm fans. I'm thinking of getting the evga 980 classified, but not sure if I should get it or wait.

It also depends upon what type of financial budget you have for your GPU and also if you are using a single or multi-monitor setup.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

I wouldn't hesitate getting a EVGA GTX 980 Classified for a several of reasons:
    1. Games just feel smoother with a 980 for some strange reason even with the same average frame rate as an overclocked GTX 780 TI. I own both a factory overclocked GTX 780 TI that's in my second rig and a stock GTX 980.
2.The extra 1 Gig of video ram is starting to help in new games.
3.The GTX 980 runs cooler than even my Gigabyte GTX 780 TI which has 3 fans on it.
4.The GTX 980 is more quiet especially since the fans don't even begin to spin until about 60-65C.
5.H.265 hardware encoder is included yet we still wait for shadowplay to officially support the new technology as it still uses the H.264 for Maxwell. Correct me if I'm wrong...
    6.HDMI 2.0 with support for 4K at 60 fps.
7.You can place the old card in your other system to upgrade that computer.
8.MFAA, I mean who doesn't want another option to remove those jaggies.

I think those are enough reasons to get a EVGA GTX 980 Classified.

For me if there are more than 5 reasons to upgrade then I will. I had 2 main reasons to upgrade one of which I wanted to place the older card in my secondary computer for my kids to play on and so I could compare the two cards. The second main reason was to prove my friend wrong as he was telling me that a stock GTX 980 destroys my factory overclocked GTX 780 TI.

We are comparing my old card which is this one:
    http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4839#ov

Compared to my new and still shiny EVGA GTX 980 with the ACX 2.0 Cooler:
    http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-2981-KR

I won the argument as I have both cards in question and ran the games and benchmarks which I sent him all the proof that he needed. If anyone would like me to run a specific game or benchmark then please ask me.

All everybody tells me is that I need to overclock my cards. I say if I had wanted to overclock my cards then I wouldn't need someone to tell me to do so. I don't overclock and I only test products that anyone would get out of box.

Thanks for the advice on the 980. I know that I can't go wrong with the Evga 980 Classified. I'll see how it goes. The Evga 980 Kingping edition looks very tempting too haha.

You have almost the same rig as I have. Only mine is crammed into a Silverstone Temjin TJ10 case. To get the radiator to fit (Corsair H80i), there was some very minor surgery done, but all in all it is a blistering machine. I really like it. I can OC to 4.6Ghz with only a couple of changes in BIOS (could surely go higher), but routinely run at 3.8 with 2666 XMP memory profile. I do however, have a question. Where and how would one place third party temperature sensors on the board?

Very nice OC. In regards to your question, I'm not sure where and how would one place a third part temp sensors on the board. If anyone else knows, please feel free to chime in.

    Get the New Titan.

Unless he'll be using DP, there's no need.  Just wait for the "Ti" equivalent which is a unlocked chip like the Titan X.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

    Get the New Titan.

Unless he'll be using DP, there's no need.  Just wait for the "Ti" equivalent which is a unlocked chip like the Titan X.

Most probably I'll get the Titan X, as I just got an Asus 4k monitor :) The "Ti" equivalent is also another option that I'm considering too.

If you want really nice GTX980Ti model you should forget on upgrade before September.
Maybe even more if we count few weeks where cards are out of stock because big demands from different sides.
Excellent thing would be upgrade on GTX980 Classified, special if someone plan water cooling and block stay same with 980Ti Classified. That would be really awesome, with one block on two cards. 980 Classified block is designed nice, he could cool down much hotter cards with much bigger power consumption easy as GTX980 Classified. Because no more uncovered hot points on card.

i7-5960X is 1000$, much higher price than i7-5930K.
Temps are 10C higher than 5820K and 5930K but need to be overclocked more to achieve same speed per core.
    It's excellent processor but expensive.
    That's 2666MHz Dominator Platinum 4x4GB kit, C15 or C16 version?
