My best guess is that it'll be available for step up when it comes out, or at least they'll really try to make it possible for a step up on this (I'm out of my step up window sadly)

Even if they are released soon, they may not be immediately available for step-up until they have a decent quantity on hand. You must be a very patient person. If I had Kingpins [or anything] I probably couldn't resist. I'm thinking they probably will be released soon, since I just traded up to 980's. lol

Maybe I will crack open the Kingpins since I have 90 days anyway and I do feel that the 980TI will be available for the step-up before the 90 days.

Phase, wait and see. if you are ok with the $150 loss of money, while possibly gaining performance, it will be worth it, but until EVGA releases the official statement and says it will be available, you won't know. More than likely, it will be available for step-up.

Kinda would ruin the entire idea of the step-up program to me. I bought into the entire idea based on if something new comes out within 90 days you could upgrade. Hopefully it will be available within the 41 days I have left.. I would hope at least they would allow owners to start queuing for the step-up, I mean they already have a system in place for not having a sufficient stock on hand.

don't hate but at the new price point it would seems dumb for them to offer the card anytime soon.....otherwise they will be sending out thousands of TI's for 970/980's and have next to nothing for retail sales . Just my two cents .This is a unusual set of circumstances where the new card is cheaper or less then the original card being stepped up from....I personally would think a good 4-6 month wait is possible as the demand is going to be HUGE.and setting huge amounts of stock for non retail sales would be bad for EVGA.

Besides the fact that when I purchased my EVGA card I kinda took them for face value... EVGA The EVGA Step-Up program helps you have the peace of mind to purchase your favorite product now, knowing you can upgrade to the latest parts that come out within the first 90 days from your purchase. In the computer hardware world, 90 days is a lifetime! With a valid part, once per purchase, you can upgrade your EVGA product by paying the difference between what you paid and the price on EVGA's website. It's really that simple!
That pretty much made me expect if a new product comes out within 90 days, you know because that's a "lifetime", that I would be able to step-up from it.

well looks like ONE TI is in the step up EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti ACX 2.0+ ( 06G-P4-4991-KR) To your points, yes but as with anything this program does have terms and conditions you have to expect to follow also - Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
- Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)

Well, I'll definitly be sending in my 980 FTW... Was thinking of sending it back due to coil whine and black screens in ESO (even without Geforce experience enabled, as that seemed to be the problem for some nVidia users). This seems like a nice step up to power a 1440p144hz display as well.

Biohazard addressed it right after your post.. was 24 hours a long time to wait? This is why I always say to have patience, because it usually doesn't take long to see the answer without asking lol. For those wanting to step up and curious when the cards will be available.. you will have to wait and see what your step-up que is. once it gets to that, other users will spam their numbers as to when they are lower in que. It took nearly two months for people in the 50's to get their 980's when they came out, and this will be no different. EVGA didn't release a timeframe on when people would get their step-ups when the 980 was released, so I wouldn't expect them to with the 980ti, although they will tell you, "Once cards become available".

I'm kind of boned. I hate the look of the acx plus I have two hydrocoolers waiting for these cards, they won't work with the hydrocoolers. Why can't I go from a reference card into a reference card? Plus I have mine was tyhed gtx 980 super clocked.

Cool. So I purchased SC 980 reference x2. I also purchased TWO hydrocoolers for the 980 two weeks ago thinking they just might work for 980ti(that's moot can return them). The point being I prefer the reference cooler design over the non reference cooler and I'm only able to step up into 980ti ACX. I want to go from 980sc reference to 980ti sc reference. Not 980sc reference to 980ti non reference, they don't fit the look of my system and are often quite loud.

Reference cooler is what EVGA decides it to be ,in this case its the ACX 2.0+ cooler version. SC SSC FTW and Classified are not a part of the Step up Guarantee options as they are not " reference" stock clocks/cooler/specs design .Sometimes they offer other variations later in a GPU lifespan or when its getting closer to EOL always based on supply. If you want to wait and try to take your chances later they "might" offer other variations of the TI you want.....

Okay? So I guess my next question is do they eventually make front and back plates available? Finally, since this uses the same card as the titan x, do you think a titan x hydrocooler will work with this card along with the titan x backplate?

Plates yes most times, and they are already selling the 980 AIO cooler separately,i would think they will also for the 980TI . Different cards with diff amount memory and possible PCB layouts because of it ....things wouldn't match up 100% the same . Short reply would be 99.9 % -NO- ,But a EVGA Rep on a phone call could give you a 100% reply

Outstanding! Well, at this point EVGA did good by me, I'm just happy to have the opportunity to be in the queue now. If that takes 3-4 months to get it I'll be okay with that.

Great way to keep me future proofed. So glad I support EVGA and almost always buy their products. Danny350 If that takes 3-4 months to get it I'll be okay with that.
