So I got my new 980 SC from evga today, unpackeged it and found that some white dust was on the edge of the card. Above the dust was the heatsink bent. Now my question is, if this card really is a new one, or just one that got returned and resold to me.

Another thing, could someone explain me the meaning of that sticker thats on the card?

I'll benachmark the card to see if it runs without problems, any suggestions concerning which benchmark to use?

Thx in advance :)

The photos are broken but the sticker is for warranty and if you remove the sticker than you kiss your replacement goodbye. Although, you could move the sticker around the card if it was to be in the way, but that's a fine line to follow and if the sticker got lost or didn't stick back on, that would be an issue.

If you believe your card is damaged than upload the photos to a support ticket under my products on this site and see what the rep says.

oh, that sticker is diffrient, but I still wouldn't remove it. I can see how one of the columns is bent slightly and I highly doubt it matters. However, if you want to you can replace the product with EVGA or the retailer you bought it from. Like I said above, you can contact tech support by going to http://www.evga.com/support/ticket/support.aspx and opening a new ticket. Include the photo or photos of the problem and tell them you want an EAR which would include free shipping instead of you paying the shipping. Or you can also replace the product with the retailer.

I've contacted tech support, will reply when I got an answer. But do you mean that such a sticker is new to you on a new GPU?

No, I have one too and I don't know what it is... But I would assume the signatures on it and stamps are like signatures as it goes through certain manafacturing steps and tests before hitting the shelf. It was probably bent when it was moved or something.

Yeah, makes sense. Well do you know any software with which I can test the gpu if everythings like it should? And some reference chart maybe? If the card performs as it should, I don't mind about that lil bend. Guess that happens.

Yeah, as said, that sticker is just there to track the product's progress through the assembly process.  It says who completed each major step and who did the quality control of the final product.  All new cards have that sticker.

Use the card the way you normally would.  If you watch videos, watch videos.  If you surf the net, surf the net.  If you play games, play games.  If the card works fine, it is fine.  Some people will recommend that you test it with Heaven Benchmark, or 3dMark, or EVGA OC Scanner, or some other piece of software.  But the truth is that there is no specific test which will tell you if it is good or bad.  It's best for you to use the card the way you normally use it and find out for yourself.  If the card doesn't work fine, you know how to get it replaced.
